Description
Habs would have 3 firsts for the draft, 2 of them at the moment being in the top 15. If we can't snag someone like Bedard or Fantilli, in the top 5, they for sure can take a Yager or Dvorsky and even trade up if they wanted.
Ill just assume they somehow get 2nd for now.
Upgrade in nets desperately needed, Allen can go be a good backup on a contender
Bring some young guys up, get ready for a big year next year, I can't see us tanking for a 3rd straight season.
Caufield extension is CRUCIAL
If I were Hughes, I would jump on a guy like Devon Levi. Gives Prime urgency to step his game up, with one last chance with Laval before Montembeault's contract expires and they'll need a new backup. Levi would be a perfect fit and while signing Jarry would be ideal, Having Levi and/or Primeau is a great situation to be in.
I wouldn't worry too much about securing another RHD, there are plenty of options coming up, and a healthy Savard and Matheson, along with a more matured Guhle and Harris should do. I would try to go after one big player in FA, whether that's Horvat, Kane, or even a veteran like Toews to ride with on the 3rd line (Ill sign Kane for the fun of it)
Gally's getting old, giving him less minutes and I wouldn't be surprised if we see him getting put on LTIR in the next few months. His service has been unreal and the whole city loves him.

Modifié 12 janv. 2023 à 15 h 41. Raison: corrected error
Buffalo doesn't need Hoffman because their top 9 is pretty set with younger and more valuable forwards, but everyone in this thread should be aware that there is an excellent chance that CapFriendly is wrong and Buffalo's rights to Levi expire this summer because he took a year off before going to university. See the relevant provisions of the CBA.

Late Edit: I'm wrong. See the discussion below at nos. 6 and 7

Wow... that Buffalo trade. This kid is touted as the second coming of Ryan Miller and your thoughts are to trade for him for someone way past their prime. I'll tell you what, add Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki AND Montreal's '23 first unprotected and that gets this conversation started MAYBE. You will never get Levi. It's just not happening

Levi didn't take a year off. He had a rib injury during the WJC preceding his freshman year and since it was a shortened season he never got the opportunity to play. The Huskies first game wasn't until mid-December that season when Levi was already off to the WJC's, I believe they had to quarantine for 2 weeks prior to the WJC start so he wasn't available for the games prior and the rib injury kept him out for 6 weeks after which ended his freshman season.

No one should be surprised that my memory is wrong. Here's the post discussing Levi, Erik Portillo and Ryan Johnson:
