You do realize that even with retention, Drouin is a negative asset. Edmundson is a little higher value than Pool party and no value for Rodrigue. So, out of both scenarios, the first should go to EDM instead of Montreal

That would be true if the market resolved around your value of players but thankfully it does not. The market sets the value and the market is setting Eddy at a minimum of a 1st round pick

You do realize that Drouin is a UFA this summer and the Habs are tanking. They dont need to shed his salary. If Drouin goes anywhere, its because the other team asked for him which means hes not a negative asset
