If Karlsson can carry his current game over to BUF that would be amazing...

I don’t agree for a couple reasons:
Him and skinner have 5 years left.
But :
The cap is gonna jump to 95 mill ish with 3-4 years
Guys like Savoie will still be on an ELC in 4 years .
Guys that expire in 2 years can still be bridged till those contracts expire.

Definitely interesting, Dahlin seems to play better on the Right. Don't know if I would take Samuelsson away from him. Samuelsson is the Glue back there and the numbers prove it.
Let's remember Karlsson has 36 EVP in 37 games, so he is not merely a PP specialist.
It would be interesting setting up the defensive pairings.
Power appears to be a very strong defensive D-man so let's imagine:
Samuelsson-Dahlin
Power-Karlsson
Johnson-Jokiharju
The top 4 could end up playing over 50 minutes with Karlsson taking Power's spot as the 2nd PP defenseman.
Since Erik would be taking Lyubushkin's spot in the line up, the highest scoring team in the NHL would score even more.
His contract could be absorbed, but the bigger issue would be how would Dahlin, Power, and Cozens modify their contract requests?
Thompson may have set the tone for future contracts.
He may have taken a team friendly deal. We all need to understand even with higher state taxes the COL in Buffalo is much lower than other NHL cities.
A 4,000 sqft house in Buffalo would cost about the same as a 2,000 sqft house in nearly any other city with nearly equal property taxes.
Last weekend we paid $160 usd for two front row tickets to "Come From Away."
Those tickets in Toronto would be $600 cad or nearly $450 usd, three times the price.
Thompson's contract in Buffalo buys a lot more entertainment in Buffalo than nearly any other NHL city.
While Erik would make Buffalo even more fun to watch, there are good reasons to pass on it.
