The Severson stance is brutal. Just bc he's walking doesn't mean you should just deal him. Rather try to win now than get a 3rd.

I love the idea of letting Nemec develop at least one extra year in the minors, but I don't think Severson would be interested in signing a two year deal.
Severson would be among the best available RHD in the FA market meaning he will most likely get a quite large contract.
I think Walsh is the strongest candidate to play 3RHD for the 23/24 season, he'll be 24 at that time and should be more than ready for a full time job in the NHL.

Not too delusional. Meier is a rental, unless there is an agreement to sign long term at below his Qualifying Offer of 10 million. If I were Meier, I'd take a 1 year 10 million dollar payday and then UFA after next season. Cap will have gone up, market will be all in on him, and he gets 8-9 million in his next deal, and gets to choose his team.

Holtz is scoring more than Meier was at same age. Also has 2.5 years on ELC. And isn’t getting regular playing time on a team with a ton of forwards.

Meier has one year of control (with very high AAV) in flat cap era. San Jose has said they will not let other teams pre-negotiate with him.

I like Meier, but most of the trades on here are not consistent with recent history of top-6 wingers heading into final year. The return will be somewhere in the neighborhood of Fiala, Reinhart and Buchnevich.
