I think Kent Hughes would rather have a 3rd 1st Rd pick than Bourgault. Decent value for Edm as well. They get a top 4 Dman at half price for next season as well.
2.
DAL
  1. Monahan, Sean (3 187 500 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
2024 Trade Deadline
Dallas currently sits 2nd in the west, should be buyers at the deadline. Adding Monahan lets Dallas run 3 deep lines that can all score. Something you need for a long playoff run. I’ve had my eye on Bourque for long time now. I think with the emergence of Stankoven in the Dallas system, Bourque becomes available.

  1. Drouin, Jonathan (2 750 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
2024 Trade Deadline
Drouin’s Montreal days are finally over. Hopefully he can revive his career. Seattle seems like a decent suitor for him. Their expectations aren’t high, but being a current playoff team, they could be looking to add something for cheap. Also the potential they resign him for cheap. Low risk, potentially high reward for Ron Francis an Co.

    2024 NHL Draft
Hopefully Montreal can implode in the new year and get a top 5 pick in the draft. Obviously the top prize is Bedard, but I also love Fantilli. Dude is a stud.
With the Edmonton 1st later in the draft, the habs add a right shot Dman like Cam Allen.

    2024 NHL Draft
It will be interesting to see what happens with Dubois. He’s having an absolute monster season for the Jets this year. The price will be steep, if Cheveldayoff doesn’t make him untouchable. I based the return off of what Ottawa received for Matt Duchene in his prime. Obviously Dubois will be signing long term in Montreal, hence the second 1st Rd pick. Shall be an interesting saga to follow.

Not sure you guys can afford Dubois

Probably have to ship out Hoffman and at least one of Anderson Dvorak or Gallagher

I don't see the DALLAS to be in a hurry at all. And they have veterans playing good minutes for them. Perhaps maybe something on the defense? But not another center / top 6 winger. Not really.

I genuinely think that Dubois will end up signing a mid-term contract (3-4 years) in WPG this offseason. After that, my bet would be that he heads to MTL for one more big contract.

That's a decent value offer for Dubois, but likely would need different prospects attached as Roy and Harris don't do anything for the Jets. Kudos though for trying to put up a realistic offer.

That wouldn’t surprise me neither. But in the situation Dubois and Jets can’t agree this offseason, I hope Hughes puts in a decent offer.

Thanks, I always try to be realistic. I really like Owen Beck, but have the feeling the Jets will really like him too. Could definitely see him instead of Kidney in this trade.

Harris would also need to be replaced as the last thing Winnipeg needs is another left shot defenseman. Still though, that could be negotiated.

You’re right. If Dallas upgrade anything it will be on defense either internally or via trade.

I rather we call up Bourque instead of using him in a trade for yet another Vet.

We will also need all those forwards on ELC in the coming years.

Honestly I don't see a good fit for Drouin in Seattle. The Kraken have a sneaky deep forward corps and have been getting scoring from up and down the lineup, so another offensively skilled forward isn't really what they need. Drouin would likely be rotated in and out of the lineup in Seattle, just like he is in Montreal now, which won't do anything to rehabilitate his game. The best thing for him in my opinion would be to go to a team where he would have a locked in role and spot in the lineup. Unfortunately the Kraken as presently constructed aren't that team.

OP was saying at the '24 Draft for that trade, which I believe would still be a time that Winnipeg has his RFA rights - by that time Hoffman is off the cap (and the cap has hopefully jumped) so I think the cap would work for an 8x$8M type extension.

Bourque is just getting his feet under him in the AHL. I was hoping for him mid season, but from what I’ve seen from the Cedar Park games it’s too soon. Which is okay. Some guys don’t make the adjustment overnight. Nill should know that. And trading him for a rental is a no go imo

MTL have over 24M cap space next year and only Caufield and Harris to sign. And that's if the cap only raise by 1M.

The only trade I would be relatively OK with, is for us to get a player like Chychrun. And even then, I would still be reluctant.
