What don't Canucks fans understand. Boesner isn't worth his contract. Sabres keep then pick and spend 6.65m better.

If the Canucks made these moves it would probably be amongst one of the worst possible outcomes.

For starters I dont think the Boeser return is realistic. I think Boeser is better than he a shown to this point, but given how the winger market has caved in (ie Bjorkstrand, Arvidsson) and the fact that Boeser carries a substantial cap hit this feels like a situation in which the Canucks will have to give the player away for free.

The Horvat trade feels low in value, especially when compared with the returns for guys like Duchene and Stone not to long ago. While Foudy is a good prospect he does not move the needle enough.

Finally, for the Canucks to commit the entire Horvat return, Rathbone, a 2nd and Myers (who still logs tons of minutes for this team and could have real trade value next year as an expiring contract) would be terrible assets management. Chychurn is often injured and 2 years away from commanding a significant pay raise. It would be far more prudent for the Canucks to accumulate as many picks and prospects as possible and try to develop a Chychurn type player.

Agree boesner is not worth his deal.

Boeser, on the other hand, is very attractive buy low candidate right now. Teams with capspace and upward trajectory can take a low risk bet on Boeser regaining form in a different market

Matt Duchene had 2 years left on his contract. Mark Stone is significantly better than Bo Horvat. Neither of those are good comps.

Buffalo still dont need Boeser. The Sabres do not need wingers, if youre not upgrading Mittlestadt or upgrading their 3rd pair d Buffalo doesnt have a reason to make a trade

I dont get it. There are trade examples like Bjorkstrand. Wingers are never valued that high! He has terrible metrics. He's paid to score goals and has never done it at a high level. They dont want him for their cap which makes their leverage zero. He has term which teams cant fit next season.

There isnt one single reason why a team adds Boeser besides hope for the best and pray. You may as well go after Puljujarvi in that case with no term.

Which team can afford him next year tho? I keep hearing Canucks need to move him for their cap. Well, other teams have the same issues. This what led to Bjorkstrand being dealt for so little.

I’ve seen a lot of teaches like this from fans about Horvat. E.g. comparing Horvat to ROR’s trade from Buffalo. O’Reilly had 5 years of term left, lmao.

That garbage doesn't get Jakob Chychrun.

And Colorado isn't trading for Bo Horvat, Nor would that be the best bid on Horvat with about 6 to 7 teams strongly interested in him.

When Stone was traded, he definitely was superior to Horvat. Plus Stone did come with a extension. Not sure if the next full four years are going to good value for Vegas
Just going by last summer, are the 7 and 8 deal that Calgary made with Kadri and Huberneau going to good team value contracts in a few years.

Tkachuk contract looks good, Huberdeau and Kadri's, not so much. On the Stone trade, are you sure the extension was worked out before the trade went down? Or was it after the trade, like with Hampus Lindholm and the Bruins?

Let's put it like this....apparently the Sens had offered Stone a 9m or 9.5m contract. He liked the money but wanted to play elsewhere. Because the Sens were out of the playoffs, he and the Vegas were allowed to talk about a new contract, both agreed and the trade was made. But the actually signing was made after he became a Vegan.
You're right Tkachuk's contract looks good partly because of age. I liked the Tkachuk trade for the Flames, but they made a mistake extending Huberneau for eight years when his 30 years went the contract starts. Same with the Kadri contract which started when he was 31 years of age.

The problem is, if Treliving didn't make those signings, if he didn't indicate to committing to going all in through at least some form, I'm sure he would have been fired. Now it's starting to look like it is a no win scenario for him. Not that I'm surprised, Treliving has made his share of mistakes as Flames GM (Troy Brouwer, James Neal, Calle Jarnkrok, Tyler Pitlick, Travis Hamonic etc.)

The Vegas pick could be one of the last two picks in this years draft.
I know Boeser is over paid, it would be interesting to see him on RW with Krebs and Olofsson.
Not that the Sabres need to add scoring, but Boeser would give the Sabres three scoring lines.
Next year the Sabres shed Okposo's $6,000,000, Bishop's $4,916,667, Girgenson's $2,200,000, Hinostroza's $1,700,000, Anderson's $1,500,000 Hodson's $791,667 cap hits for a saving of $17,108,334.
Thompson, Samuelsson and Cozens will add $7,142,857, $4,285,714, $7,000,000 (guessing) totals $18,428,571, $1,320,237 more than they shed.
Since Thompson, Samuelsson and Cozens are currently paid $1,400,000, $925,000 and $894,167 the Sabres should be able to replace Okposo and Girgensons while not have an issue exceeding the cap for the next year.
Boeser's $6,650,000 salary expires when Quinn's $863,333 and Peterka's $855,833 ELC's will run those three salaries total ($8,369,166) will not be the raises that they will be expecting but the increase and cap and Brock's salary should be close to the same.
I think I may take that trade if the Sabres are close to making the playoffs this year.

Be interesting to see if Adams steps up his pursuit of a Dman. Jeremy Davies was called up.

Well he already made a BIG move trading Laaksonen for Joseph Cecconi.
TBH signing Davies means the injuries to Power and Bryson are more serious than we are being led to believe.
I was really happy that Karmanos signed Clague and Pilut, but I did not expect them to have to play 10 and 15 games this soon into the season.
It appears our defense will be Dahlin, Samuelson, Pilut, Fitzgerald, Clague and Davies.
I guess they feel Davies is a better option than Prow.
Hard to keep the puck out of the net with a 7th NHL D-man and three AHL D-men in the same game.
I suppose Anderson will get the start against the Coyotes, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen will have to face the Knights.

Looks that way, Dahlin and Samuelsson will be worn out by game 60 the way there going. Conor Timmons was a nice get for Toronto for that bag of pucks
