Interesting deal from a Canucks perspective. Obviously not a great return for Boeser, even with his somewhat low value, but getting to clear Pearson and Poolman’s contracts off the books may make it worthwhile.

Dallas declines. No interest in involving Bourque or Stranges for a rental mid-6er.

It's not just a mid sixer though, it's also clearing over 5 million in cap for Dallas

Bourque I agree with, but I'm perfectly fine including Stranges in a trade like this. As a whole, I think Stars fans, are overvaluing Stranges, IMO. He's a decent bottom-6 prospect, but I'm not sure I see the top-6 upside that others see. I always get pointed back to what he did last year in the OHL, but that's what he should have done as a kid that was a year and a half older than most of his peers. Sure he's a fine prospect, but he's at the back end of the Stars top-10 prospects. If a team wants to send a middle-6 winger and build a package around Stranges, I'm down for that kind of trade.

Khudobin expires after this year. Faksa'a buyout is dirt cheap, if we wanted to get rid of him. So it pretty much is a mid sixer for two solid prospects.

That deal is horrible for Mtl. 3 massive cap dumps. No thanks. Drouin contract runs out at the end of the year. Dvorak isnt a cap dump. Centers that win draws and put up.5PPG are valuable.

Anderson to EDM for a 1st and Puljujarvi. I could see happening though Pool Party value is close to zero atm with Tolvanen almost passing through waivers. It would probably be Bourgault instead.

I personally do like Stranges. He has something to offer that Dallas doesn't really have, and that is speed and good hands. Stranges potential wise do not rival the top prospects, but I could see him become a Kapanen esque player for our bottom-6 (preferably the Kapanen who played in Leafs, not the one in Pens).

If we get a really solid asset that would instantly strengthen our top6 (basically a winger for Marchment and Seguin that is clearly above those options that we have now level wise), then I'd include Stranges in a trade, but imo Monahan is not this kind of player.

Petersen isnt an NHL goalie and will probably have to be bought out. That alone isnt worth the return. Allen is at 7 goals saved above expected. TOP5 goalie in the NHL and makes half the money of Petersen.

35 MIllion of cap going to the Habs as opposed to less than 19 million going to the Canucks. Yeah Canucks arent interested in cap space at all with all those great great deals they got preventing them for offering Horvat over 7M AAV

where are you even getting that number from - hockey-reference has Jake Allen at -2.7 GSAA, moneypuck has him at 5.2 GSAE(16th in the league), natural stat trick has him at -8.78 GSAA (6th worst in the league).

I don't see any metric that would put Jake Allen as a top 5 goalie in the NHL, sorry.

I agree that I wouldn't make this trade. Monahan isn't the piece that the Stars should be pursuing. If I'm Nill, I'm at least kicking the tires on guys like Tarasenko or O'Reilly out of St. Louis, should they decide to be sellers.

I dunno, these two are bound to be hella expensive since they're division rivals, and honestly the one key attribute missing on that line is skating prowess. I don't think these guys are helping in that regard.

That being said, if there's a favorable deal to be made involving one of them, then I'd sure as hell pull the trigger. But the key word is favorable.

It's a crying shame that the rental market this year is pretty bad. Or to be more precise, from players that could be considered rentals, majority are already playing in perceived playoff teams.

Spence is far more valuable than Norlinder. He acquitted himself very well in his audition last season.

No need to trade Petersen, or acquire Allen; we have an adequate backup for Quick this season.

Walker and our earlier third for Edmundson with retention is fair, but I'm sure that some team will pay a first for him.
