Not really. We've got 3 legitimate RHD, and that's without Brodie as a LHD on the right side. I should have said defense in general isn't something TOR should be actively looking for, let alone moving their first and arguably top prospect for one.

I would love to have Kaiden Guhle but we already have Sandin and Rielly on the left side that will be mainstays. If we got Guhle, one of them won't get the ice time they want and will probably get frustrated. We also haven't had a power forward like Knies in a really long time

This is like canucks fans arguing that Schenn is a top pair defender because he's playing with Hughes. As has been mentioned if getting the ice time regardless of results makes a player a legit #1 then I guess Holl is a legit #1

Montreal hasn't shutdown anyone really. They are a terrible team defensively, it's a fact. If Guhle is a top notch shutdown #1, why is the team terrible defensively? Guess who's a top 5 defensive team and currently has Holl as a top pair guy?

You missed the point. If playing against top players regardless of results, is all it takes to he a top flight #1, then Holl must also be that because he's been playing 20+ minutes a night for years. It's a ridiculous way to think, and that's his point.

In no way to I think Holl is a #1. He's a great 3rd pair guy who can play more if need be. Guhle has potential but he shouldn't playing the minutes he is playing. That's the point here. He would be a lot better served being a number 5 over a number 1. Because he isn't that yet and is getting caved in on a nightly basis. The kid has a 41% high danger scoring chance %. That's abysmal.

Well, currently is worse than justin holl. Like i said, holl is getting top pairing mins on a top 3 team in the league playing massive pk mins and getting good results. Guhle is getting wrecked in big ice time for a lotto team.
So again if guhle is a number 1 defender (read: he isnt) then holl bettet get his hof speech ready

He shut down Matthews and Crosby in the games they've played. Canadiens play man-defense not position defense. He is keeping up with the Elite players he is put against every night.

The rest of the Canadiens forwards and defensemen who are on the ice are not doing their part, but Guhle is a gem.

My argument is essentially that if Holl played for the Canadiens his stats would be significantly worse.
