No one has really seen long term retention, but a single year is always a 3rd rounder or better. Is 3 yrs retention worth a 1st? Probably.

Robertson isn;t looking so shiney anymore (when hes not a healthy scratch, hes playing on a big offensive team and not putting up big numbers, his injury history and size work against him too) and flyers with foerster, brink, gautheir probably arent jumping at him either. The 1sts are likely very late in the round.

Koneckny led the flyers in pts last year (they couldn;t score, they were bad, and 5 of their top 6 scorers missed at least 20 games). This year hes a PPG, without half their top 6 forwards and hes what? 24 yrs old and signed quite cheaply for 3 more. SO Im thinking hes probably worth 2 1sts straight up, no retention/no pick back, and maybe more.

Just dont think robertson adds a lot of value at the moment.

As for ANA deal? I think theyll get far better offers than an expiring UFA and a 2nd for the player alone, and 3.5mil in retention and them throwing in a 7th is worth more than a 4th

Holl is a negative asset, we are bascily getting Klingberg free, don't think Philly would be all to intrested in a late first for Konecny, and Minny doesn't have the cap space for Engvall

They aren't trying to rebuild so even if they are doing a retool, they won't be retaining anything significant if anything at all. The ask for Konency without retention would probably be 3 1sts (Knies+two 1sts) as he's their best player with Couturier out (and the way things are going he may stay out indefinitely).


Anaheim is going to want a 1st round pick for Klingberg. If they don't get it, I think they resign him. Maybe Robertson+a 2023 2nd would be enough, but it's most likely going to have to be a 1st round pick 2023 or 2024.

Klingberg isn't a 3rd pairing PK type d-man. Holl is much better at that role, is cheaper and leafs keep the picks. Holl isn't going anywhere and is a lock in the lineup. Are people watching the games?

Someone still needs to replace him on the PK if he's traded and that's not going to be Klingberg. They can put Liljegren on the PK but Holl is probably more reliable when he's not cupping the puck and tossing it down the ice.

Leafs probably should target cheaper options like Schenn and maybe add an impact forward if they can. By next year, perhaps at least one if not both of Sandin and Liljegren will be ready for expanded roles. If this does end up being the price for Klingberg I do think the Leafs could add him if they aren't confident enough in Sandin or Liljegren come playoff time, but they wouldn't move Holl in the process most likely.

A RHD depth/bottom pairing D who can move up and down when needed who is physical is something Dubas was looking for after Lyubushkin, they got Benn who is LHD who can play the right side but since he does get injured often, I do expect Schenn to be of real interest to them. Another option could be that they acquire a cheap forward like Kuzmenko and trade for a 3-3.5m RHD with some term if there is one available.

Dubas will look to add to the team with subtracting as little as possible, and he will also take into consideration the future outlook.
