Giving up seven top assets to get two isn't good management.

Getting Pettersson for slightly more than you're getting for Bertuzzi is an interesting thought...

Yzerman laughs to the bank if he gets those deals. If he has the opportunity to add proven elite, young talent, why wouldn't he? Not every prospect is going to turn out, and in hindsight, it may look like a lopsided trade but the trades do significantly improve their team now. The only thing he would probably hate is giving up Cossa, and if Vancouver is even willing to consider either of those packages I think he could get away with giving something else up instead of him. Perhaps, Zhigalov could be a good enough replacement for Cossa. I wouldn't know though as I have no clue who he may be.

If Zhigalov is any good, then I'm sure all 3 teams reject those offers.

Don't know how that's slightly more, that's alot more. Don't know how high you value Knies but labeling him as a top prospect without saying who is better cause it's impossible to tell right now. You have one top prospect in the Bertuzzi trade where the Pettersson trade has 3. Not that Toronto would trade Knies, I think he is the most untouchable out of any of their prospects.

There's Cossa in there too though, he's a top goalie prospect.

Your wording is probably inaccurate, but what you were getting at is correct.

Pettersen isn't going to cost less than that return, while Bertuzzi is probably not fetching a top prospect.

Jesus...I had a whole thing typed out there and must have rocked the backspace button there, including on Cossa...had him as far more valuable than the 3rd...my bad!

What I was trying to say was basically what you were saying...Bertuzzi, IMHO, is probably about a 2nd high in that scenario. With Petey, yeah, it's not a bad return at all, but I'd imagine they'd want a 1st in there somewhere where they can take someone that they actually want in the draft.

Woof first Bertuzzi has been hurt most of the season, leafs already have issues with IR. secondly he is worth a 2nd but that is about it. his posession is poor, and he had one good season and now he is worth a top prospect a 2nd a 3rd? thats a good dream.

Zhigalov has some promise as a goalie prospect, so you are correct all 3 teams reject
