Description
1. I am unsure of Troy’s contract. He’s 25 so 8 years might be too long but he’s just too good not to offer it.

2. Trevor is an easy decision, 8 years and big money for him. He’s only 21 and has plenty of great hockey ahead.

3. Bringing in Tyler Myers seems like an easy decision for both Anaheim and Vancouver.

4. The Gibson trade is a wildcard but sending him back to his hometown might just help him fix his game.

Just be warned. Finishing with the worst record doesn't guarantee you'll get the #1 pick. Although right now I'd take Raymond over Lafreniere. Laffy could still end up being the better player down the road.

I can't see the Pens making that move even if they let Jarry walk. Hextall is more likely to at least try free agency first. Value-wise? I don't think it's a bad deal, just can't see the Pens doing it.

You know I'm a fan of Gibson, or at least I think you know from other conversations we've had. I think the growing issue with moving him is it should have been done two years ago, or last year. With each year getting older and numbers not improving, that contract is a little be tougher to move.

As poorly the ducks have been defensively, it's getting harder to defend Gibson. While I do think a change of scenery is exactly what he needs. He needs to play for purpose, but I'm not sure his value is what Ducks fans would hope it is.

I will say this, his fancy stats are still middling and I mean that in a good way because they should be much worse.

I still say that Gibson is better than his stats indicate. Anaheim and Columbus are tied for most goals against (84) after 20 games, and the next worst team (Vancouver) has given up 5 fewer. Having watched every minute Gibson has played this year, he really does make some great saves and overall, should get much better results than he has. Like Lindholm and Manson, I long for the day when he gets to show what he's really capable of. As much as I love the Ducks, I'd love to see him play for a good defensive team like the Avalanche.

Lafreniere was never a generational talent. Lafreniere was closer to rossi than Laf is to Bedard

We should be able to get a 1st+ for a 50% retained Rico

Horrible deal for Gibby, Kap has no value at all along with the retention is just a slap in the face imo

EDM deal doesn’t make much sense to me either because we have Fowler Drysdale and Zellweger who could all run the PP’s so Barrie isn’t a need as we need more defensive minded guys

I think both Zegras and Terry get matching 8 years or Troy gets his 8x8+ and Z gets the Robo deal

I think/know Helleson should be up full time next year as well probably playing with Cam, may not mind him with Zellweger if he gets games this year and looks good And gets that experience as well

There is so much there to not like. Bringing Myers, Barrie and Kapanen... just no. I can't think of three players I want less on the Ducks than that bunch. Eller at 2.5? Pass. Zegras won't get 9.25x8.

I was trying to imply that he's better than his stats show and that he'd likely benefit from playing for a contender. My issue is I'm not sure HOW much better he'd be and given his age and remaining contract, it becomes more of a risk the longer ANA waits, and I'm not sure what the value is the longer they wait. He's probably worth more than this proposed deal, but I'm not sure how much more.

And in case I was unclear, I agree with you 100%, in both comments.
