I'd do that if Severson could be extended by the Jets.

Too much for a rental that is really a lateral move for the Jets. Severson is better offensively, but worse defensively, so the Jets likely stay with the player that has another year on a good value contract.

It's also very unlikely the Jets rock the boat at this point.

Thats just too much for the Jets. As a rental its too much, and if Severson is extended, the Jets will have waaaay too much money tied up in their blue line. The Jets should be trading a defenseman for a forward, Heinola on an ELC is more valuable than another defenseman with big money, even if the defenseman is good like Severson.
