No kidding. Are you trying to tell me Duhaime is better than Mittelstadt?

I think Mittelstadt is a solid player, and is prone to the occasional headache from time to time, but the reason why I am trading him is because the Sabres have too much of the same, and need an infusion of grit into the lineup, and when you look long term, we will have a log jam at center. I want to open up an opportunity for Peyton Krebs, and eventually Matthew Savoie, and Jiri Kulich, and I don’t think Mittelstadt fits in long term. I only think he’s worth a second round pick, maybe a third, and/ or asset.

Duhaime was not a centerpiece of this deal, he was just a throw in, like how we threw in Lazar to the Hall deal. But he’s a useful throw in.

In a way, I feel like Mittelstadt has become a combination of trade O’Reilly, he’s too slow, to Rasmus Ristolainen is good vs Ristolainen sucks crowds. We’ve blended the best of both worlds.

I don’t hate Mittelstadt, I do think he’s a solid player, but looking at him in long term, I don’t think he fits, and in the short term, I am looking to Insert grit into the top 9.

It's funny because second round picks absolutely have value. JJ Peterka was a second round pick and he looks great so far. Getting a second for Casey would be insane, because Mr.Fortnite is probably only worth a late third or early fourth. It would also give Buffalo FOUR second rounders this year, which could be used for a variety of things.

Exactly. And it’s not like we don’t have potential options to replace Mittelstadt. If you traded for Kunin he can center and wing as a physical forward but is much better as a wing admittedly, perfect for the middle six,

But internally, it would open up an opportunity and ice time for Peyton Krebs, which is hard to come by because of us having four centers, as well as Quinn.

First of all, uhhhh, no, you didn’t.

Yes, you are using extremes. You are saying second round picks have no value.

You just wanna throw away a top PP and PK and FO and defensive forward.......

For someone we already have.

That's 10 years. You have reading issues. 25/300 players. In 10 years.

Never said 2nd round picks are worthless. I said they are~10% lottery tickets that might pan out to be better than Mitts in 5-10years.

But, you're bad at math and reading...so I'm not surprised.

And even if it is...look at history....the 34th overall pick has a ~10% chance of being a good player by 2030.

BUT sure...let's keep selling good NHL players for draft picks that maybe have a small chance of turning out in 5-10 years. It's been a great strategy for the past 11+ years.....

Not a fan of instantly shipping out prospects who don't pan out right away but I am a big fan of getting value back for an underwhelming player who was gonna be off the roster in a few seasons anyways. He's blocking other players development

Quinn, who was being benched despite being one of the better forwards on the ice for the sabres.

Krebs, who was benched for a few games but is forced to sit on a checking line instead of developing his play at center

Not in a prospect sense but he's making it harder for the sabres to get Hino some games so they can try and trade him at the TDL

Does Quinn play C? No. PK? No. Better on the PP? No. Quinn is 21 years old and has 7 points. Mitts is 23 and has 89 pts. Sure....Blocking Quinn?

Krebs is 21 and has 25 points in his career.

BUT SURE....the guy that is 5th in ice time is blocking the way for guys who are 11th and 12th in ice time.
