Leinonen was a second rounder in the last draft and he has been awful this year. I'm sure there's some type of potential upside because the sabres have been pretty good at drafting for the past few seasons but he's played on three different teams and hasn't cracked .900 on any of them.

O goals during our 4 game losing streak
I guess Olofsson isn’t the only one to have disappeared
The Sabres aren’t gonna “dump Olofsson”
If u think that, you’re a clown
But I’m not surprised, mr +/-</div></div>
you cant clown me for using Plus minus as a joke if you wanna pull stats from a losing skid.
Tage Thompson: 3 assists in 4 game losing streak, back it up a game to include the lightning win and he's got a goal and 4 assists.
Victor Olofsson: 1 goal in losing streak, back all the way up to February 13th and he has a goal and two assists over the span of an entire month. Back up even farther to January 26th and he has 2 goals- 3 assists in almost two months.
You wanna say that Tage disappeared just because he didnt score during the streak despite the fact that he's been involved in a third of the goals scored.
He is 110% getting dumped this offseason, they wont keep Savoie in Winnipeg and there's a good chance Kulich cracks the roster next season. His time in Buffalo is almost over and his game losing whiff is the nail in his coffin

Very unlikely</div></div>
I dont use plus/minus as a gauge for talent, but i found it fun that even strength scoring percentage Jesus somehow still sucks at everything else.
In case you couldnt tell from the pfp, I am a sabres fan. When they dump olofsson for a third and a sixth in the offseason come back to this.
Nice game losing whiff btw, really flashing his talent when it matters most

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>homiedaclown</b></div><div>Adams would be stupid to just dump Olofsson in a deal like this
To your point about guys coming in next year to take Olofsson’s spot- i highly doubt it
Quinn & Peterka haven’t been better than Olofsson this year
There’s no reason to think Savoie & Kulich will be next year
Olofsson is gonna score over 30goals this year- ON OUR 3rd LINE- Do u have any idea how rare that it???
Take a stroll through other teams’ lineups & see how many others there are in the league- VERY FEW
And he’s doing it with Jost as his center for most of the year- TYSON JOST- a guy we got off of waivers
I get it
Olofsson doesn’t play great defense- or even good defense
But that describes half the good offensive forwards in the league
Not only are Olofsson’s goals so valuable bc they’re coming from the 3rd line
They’re also EXTREMELY VALUABLE bc they’re almost all at EVEN STRENGTH this season
Gone are the days when ppl can call Olofsson a “PP Specialist”
It’s just not true anymore
18 of his 23 goals are at even strength
That’s 78% of his goals
For comparison’s sake, let’s look at the percentage of even strength goals from some other players:
Tage Thompson: 55%
Skinner: 73%
Tuch: 79%
Cozens: 78%
Again, to remind you, Olofsson was at 78%
You’d laugh at the idea of trading any of those other guys for a 2nd round pick, & u should laugh at the idea of trading Olofsson for that too
1 more player’s even strength goal percentage- just for fun
Alex Ovechkin- probably the best goal scorer of all time
25 of his 35 goals have come at even strength this year
71%
That’s right- Olofsson has a better even strength scoring percentage this season than the best scorer of all time!!!
Want more? Ok
McDavid: 59%
Matthews: 64%
Pasternak: 68%
Still don’t realize how valuable Olofsson’s goals have been this year??
Get your head examined</div></div>
A: I'd be shocked if he gets over 30
B: Jost isnt even bad idk why him being a waiver guy is a bad thing
C: While the points dont show, Quinn has been better than Olofsson. Peterka has not however
D: Arguing even strength scoring percentage for a guy who, despite having 24 goals, is a minus 22 on the year is pointless. He has a great shot and when he's dialed in he can score when it matters but when he isnt 100 percent dialed in hes a ghost who doesnt play defense at all. Unless another Ristolainen fleece offer pops up he at most goes for a Greenway esq return and he wont be a sabre next year.

This proposal is just plain dumb
Sabres would maybe- MAYBE- offer you Mittelstadt, a 2nd & Lyubushkin- but that would be the absolute most imo
Also, we don’t “need” a RD like you’re thinking
We are looking for a long term partner for Power,
but that may very well be Jokiharju (who our mgmt likes)
And we aren’t looking for a “star” partner for him, just like we weren’t for Dahlin’s partner
Looking for a solid defensive guy who has chemistry with Power
And again, we might already have that in Jokiharju
If ANYTHING,
we’d be looking for an LD3 upgrade this season
You’re WAY WAY WAY off on your proposed trade though
It’s horrendous</div></div>
I wouldnt do this trade ever but the odds that Joki becomes the long term partner is less than 10% at this point.

What does BUF and NJ think
Definitely could get more for Demko but if this was tabled to Kevyn Adams he would take it. 3 seconds this year, potentially four if Johnson tries FA so losing two isnt bad. Joki is a hit or miss so idc there. Would the sabres be willing to move from Comrie and likely anderson for demko (They should in this instance) is the big question tho

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>Look, I'm not a mittelstadt fan either, but he's getting force fed minutes in every situation, there's no way he's in the press box. Hinostroza or one of the kids will get bounced. Personally, I'm moving olofsson to 3rd line right wing, and either Krebs or Quinn is gonna play with girgensons and okposo, and that's if okposo isn't gifted a spot on the first line again. And the Sabres called up Bjork and Sheahan too.</div></div>
There's a reason its called "Healthy", that why Samuelsson Joki Quinn and Okposo are on lines. So throw Bjork and Sheahan back to Rochester. Its also my own take, so I couldn't care about Mittelstadts usage rate.
Cozens Peterka and Quinn is perfectly fine, so I see no reason to bury Quinn (who has been solid) on a checking line. Krebs needs to actually play his position in order to develop, so he gets the third line. While I'm not fond of sticking Olofsson on that checking line its the only alternative to a Krebs-Hino-Olof line that plays 0 defense. I'm sure theres other ways to mix the bottom two pairs to balance out but I did it at face value.

It makes sense when the 5th player in TOI stinks 9 games out of 10. Only other guy who should sit for a while is Okposo, which he's doing now because he's injured.

Tweaking the roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>worldwidesensei</b></div><div>Does Quinn play C? No. PK? No. Better on the PP? No. Quinn is 21 years old and has 7 points. Mitts is 23 and has 89 pts. Sure....Blocking Quinn?
Krebs is 21 and has 25 points in his career.
BUT SURE....the guy that is 5th in ice time is blocking the way for guys who are 11th and 12th in ice time.</div></div>
Quinn HAS played center, this was brought up already. Your right, he doesnt play PK and while I know the stats dont back this up, Quinn IS better on the PP. He opens play up to more than just the PPQB and the guys on the dots.
Again, why is points the dominant argument? Quinn cant get points if he gets unreasonably benched all the time, which is literally blocking.
Krebs cant get points when his line is typically checking.
Mitts hasnt earned that much ice time, what he's earned is a spot in the press box. Also why are you using ice time as an argument when the entire discussion is that both of the guys arent getting enough ice time?
Talking points again, is Joki better than Samuelsson

Quinn, who was being benched despite being one of the better forwards on the ice for the sabres.
Krebs, who was benched for a few games but is forced to sit on a checking line instead of developing his play at center
Not in a prospect sense but he's making it harder for the sabres to get Hino some games so they can try and trade him at the TDL

What's funny? JJP was picked 34th overall and we traded up to get him. Do you think the MIN pick is going to be 34th overall? I don't.
And even if it is...look at history....the 34th overall pick has a ~10% chance of being a good player by 2030.
BUT sure...let's keep selling good NHL players for draft picks that maybe have a small chance of turning out in 5-10 years. It's been a great strategy for the past 11+ years.....</div></div>
Not a fan of instantly shipping out prospects who don't pan out right away but I am a big fan of getting value back for an underwhelming player who was gonna be off the roster in a few seasons anyways. He's blocking other players development
