Giving up a 5 million dollar Kerfoot (Garland) and a guy they aren't going to keep because they don't have the cap to keep him in Horvat. It's a win for them even if they lose Demko.

Rielly sucks in his own zone. One of the worst dmen in his own zone in the league. Hughes isn’t that good either but is better than Rielly defensively

That's not true it's just what people say. Rielly is average defensively and one of the best at creating offence. It's a huge net benefit, Hughes gets pushed around in his own zone but is a wizard when he has the puck. He doesn't even get tough assignments because he's a liability in his own zone.

Hughes is much better defensively than Rielly and creates just as much if not more offensively. Hughes is average-below average defensively. Rielly is below average-atrocious defensively

Hughes gives up major major rush chances against. Good defensive players don't do that.
