when a rookie defenseman playing less than 15 minutes a game with no PP time has more goals and points than you, you're not worth a 7th round pick let alone this return. Leafs and Sens will pass.

Not going to comment on value here cause I don't think we can or should get a 2nd + 4th for those 2 right now. Why wouldn't Montreal just trade these 2 in separate deals? If Pitlick is worth a 3rd and 6th then Drouin would be worth slightly more since he has more skill and can be retained. So why wouldn't we just take say 2 3rds for Drouin (retained) and the 3rd and 6th for Pitlick in separate deals and cut Ottawa out of the Pitlick deal?

Montreal got a 1st round pick for taking the Monahan contract. They aren't getting assets to unload Drouin's contract.

The Senators need a defenseman, and they need a top 9 center since Norris is hurt. I understand Drouin has been forced to center at certain times, but he isn't a center.
