What the future may look like

Description
Based off of player comparisons for the u23 players in our system and targeted the start of Kaprizov's final year of his current contract extension, e.g. 2025/26 season.

I gathered the comparisons from various sources including theAthletic (Cory & Scott), hockeywriters, DobberProspects, Tim Army's statements on Russo's podcasts, and many many more sites. As well as my own observations. The comparisons were taken at face-value, I'm sure a more analytics-driven approach would prove more fruitful but I figure this can be a starter.

I'd really appreciate feedback since I think it's a fun little exercise to lighten the mood around the Wild's slow start to the season. :)

I still wouldn't consider this a cup favorite but it's still too early to tell. LMK what y'all's thoughts are.

I think my all time favorite was McDavid comparing his game to Tyler Bozak.

Nice list OP. I've always had Barrie as my comp for Addison. And Boldy is on a trajectory to be peak Mark Stone. I appreciate the different style of ACGM just to have some fun and mix it up. Another one that gets tossed around for Lambos is diet Pietrangelo.

Man, I always get an absolute kick out of thehockeywriters.com articles/comments when they pop up on my feed. I will absolutely never understand why so many fans follow them. It's basically ACGM with even more hot takes tears of joy

I've got an old golf buddy who writes about the Flames for them, and he's about as qualified to be a "professional" hockey analyst as my dog is. 75% (+?) of bloggers are > thehockeywriters.com

Totally. I'm not taking these player comparisons that they provide for anything more than what they are, soundbites for the casual fan. That being said, they still serve a purpose in at least giving fans some insight into what the future might bring, where there may be gaps, and possibly the direction their FO has planned. Especially when it comes to the Wild since (and someone feel free to enlighten me) Billy G nor Brackett have been forthright re: a 3 or 5 year plan. When constructing a team, 50% is building for the now and 50% building for the long term future. Obviously, those figures are adjusted depending on a multitude of factors like cap space, competitiveness, player morale, et al.

This ACGM isn't to be taken too seriously. It's merely a fun thought exercise.

Ya, y'all have a pretty solid foundation. The buyouts are a bit unfortunate, but it is what it is. I wish my beloved Ducks had Boldy tears of joy and I feel like Wallstedt is going to be f'kin awesome.
