Description
If healthy Edmundson is a better defenceman than Kulak. Edmundson is now skating but back pain issues do remain a concern. Habs would have to retain and Oilers would add conditions to get the 1st round pick that Hughes seeks. Kent wasnt at the team photo yesterday as rumours swirl that he is scouting for talent in a trade.

Interesting decision for Hughes. He could probably get more for Edmundson, 6'5, 29 year old cup winner at the TDL but the Habs left side is realy crowded though Edmundson has also played on the right side in St Louis.

Barrie could turn into a chip at next years TDL. Depends on how long the Oilers want to wait and fix this defence which has been abhorrent to start the year

I like Barrie and I don't see the difference as being more than a 2nd or 3rd between he and Eddy. My real issue though is why are we trading for a Barrie type when we have Wideman who is just as offensive? Wideman only finished with 14 points less than Barrie last year, on a much better team.

You are trading for the 1st rounder though after the Chiarot return last TDL... waiting on Edmundson to play significant minutes is the better option in all likelihood but they need space for their youth when you have Matheson also returning at some point! They have too many contracts right now is the problem so Barrie would also be an issue, you are correct unless they can flip him eventually

So Edmonton is going to pay a first to create a hole on the right side by moving Barrie who's proven to be very durable in hopes Edmonson can play 50+ games... I'm keeping the first and safer bet to play 70+ games.

The way Barrie has played this season, and including today, we're better off sitting him in the press box than playing 70+ stinkers.

Also, trading that 1st for a skating coach from Canskate for Kulak might be a worthwhile investment.

lol always the same with you. Oilers couldnt even make a pass today but sure yea awesome strategy waste the best years of McDrai just cause you say so lmao i heard the same stuff with the Kulak deal that you fell in love over

If you read my post or done any research Edmundson also plays the right side and is effective unlike Barrie

Again so Edmonton is paying a first and healthy body with the hope the guy brought in can play 20+ less games... Maybe it's bias or perhaps common sense not interested in taking a risk like this.

One year Edm will have a team who have fast decision making tough D that do not make a zillion mistakes a game.

Just moving Barrie's salary would cost a 1st in this economy. If you cant do the math, there no point having a discussion. Chiarot went for more and he isnt close to as good. This is actually a steal of a deal for Edm as Edmundson alone at retention will cost a 1st. Mtl is better off waiting than taking Barrie's cap hit, they really dont need to do it, Barrie would actually take a spot away from a young kid that is why he is a cap dump problem for Montreal
