I feel like we need Schenn. We need someone who's going to sit back for 10-15 minutes and punish anyone who enters our defensive zone. Too sloppy tonight.

Not just that game. The defense has been very sloppy far too often this season. Vasy was also uncharacteristically terrible. Not sure if Schenn is still on Tampa's board, but even if it's not him, someone like Jensen, TVR, Mayfield, Seeler etc could be very helpful.

BriseBois is awfully quiet for all the action going on around the league.

The upside is a homerun out of the park.

We kinda knew this was coming, but still sad to see him go.

Sergachev came to us NHL ready and Cernak required only minimal cooking in Syracuse.

No recently drafted defensemen other than Perbix, but how much of his development was us?
4 years in college and away from team development camps through COVID.

I'd lean towards calling him a product of St. Cloud State.

I think Jeannot will work out fine, but it's still a good amount of draft capital to send out. It's hard not to look at the Chi-Tor trade today and not think, why did JBB not offer the '25 1st, '24 2nd, Foote, Names and a C prospect for McCabe@50%, Lafferty, and a 4th+5th. It is what it is now, but Tampa still now needs to address the blue line(and an additional F for the 4th line wouldn't hurt either) with less resources than they had yesterday. There should be zero chance that the team rolls into the playoffs with their defensive depth being Fleury, Myers, and Darren Raddysh after the top 6.

Listening to JBBs press conference and the first 5 minutes of the Chris Johnson show has me sitting a little easier with the trade.

Is it an overpayment? Yes. Does it make us a better team right now and next season? Yes. The draft picks are not gonna help this core win a cup. The window is now.

While I'm not a huge fan of what Tampa had to give up for Jeannot, Tampa did get a player that I think will mesh very well. Obviously last night the trade came out of left field and the return Nashville got was HUGE, but I don't think it's completely unwarranted given Jeannot's upside, playstyle, expiry, and caphit. Plus, if he is extended long term with a low cap hit, that will look very good. Two things can be true, Tampa did overpay, but Tampa also got a good player. This is also Tampa Bay we are talking about, so there isn't a huge concern regarding all those futures. While I dont love the deal, it isnt as bad as it seemed last night

Nothing like coming back from a nice relaxing vacation in Mexico to see JBB somehow almost gave up the same amount for Meier. Better hope we see that 27 goal level come back into action..
