Well you clearly don't watch hockey.

I'm not saying he's worth a 4th, but he's probably the best value 3rd pairing dman in the league not on an ELC.

not saying this is a good deal, but people gotta realize that Kane is not going to be getting some insane return. Likely a first from a contending team, low-A or high-B prospect and then some other scraps. like from the rangers it could be:
DAL 2023 First, Kravtzov , 2024 NYR 2nd and Zac Jones or something like that. Not some insane return.

I agree, with 1 year left chicago is prob going to wait until the TDL and the deal is going to be prospects and a first, maybe a second too.

Pens decline this offer. Blomqvist looks like hes gonna be a very solid goalie and our future #1. Blueger is one of the most underrated players in the league kinda like Andrew Copp imo. We wouldnt move those 2 players. Idc about the 1st, POJ, Or Zucker. But POJ would probably be in your top 4 whereas here he isnt gaurenteed a spot. My counter offer is Zucker, POJ, Poulin, 1st, 2nd. It may not look good to you but Poulin has been very solid in prospect camp and again with you forward depth he likely gets a chance in the NHL. Kane is a very solid player dont get me wrong, but hes a rental so he wont get a massive return

Very solid 6th/6th dman. Many teams I think would take a player like him for depth

i needed to trade Blueger for cap purposes-I would also consider kappy or mcginn instead if the would have him.

You don't watch hockey. Ruhwedel is an ex sabre. I know what kind of player he is for the most part. Sabres don't need another depth dman.

Sabres have too many young D to want and overpay for a 5th/6th 32 yr old D man. You would need to trade us a pick to take him. Bryson Pilut Johnson coming up for Buffalo. No thanks on Ruhwedel. We had him once we don’t want him back

Ok, I'll play devils advocate here. I don't want ruhwedel, he's not what I would be looking for. However, if lybushkin or jokiharju suffer a serious injury, we are gonna be leaning hard on Fitzgerald or Laaksonen, or maybe pilut or clague depending on how much adams wants to have granato roll out 5 left shot d. Of course bryson-jokiharju or bryson-ruhwedel leaves more than a little something to be desired, but I did start out by saying I don't want ruhwedel. This is not a cup team, it's a team that needs to take a step, and an 800k ruhwedel insurance policy doesn't sound that bad. A 4th might be high, but I can see having at least SOME interest.

It all depends on how many teams Kane is willing to waive for. A late first is a bag of magic beans, the members of this website put equal weight into a late 1st, mid 1st and top 10 pick and they are very different in value obviously. Kane will pull a very good prospect and a late first, probably take on some sort of cap dump...beyond that it depends how many teams are in the race for him and where he will agree to go. I could easily see the NYR giving up 2 late firsts or 1 late first and Kappo as an example plus taking on a cap dump.

If Kane waives for a handful of teams, he will pull a bigger return for any rental then the NHL has seen in years.

Hawks have defensive prospect depth, that's their deepest position so not a ton of value to get a potential bottom line or bottom 4 player. They just drafted their future #1 or #2 and Seth Jones is signed for 8 years and not going anywhere so D is not a big need. Regarding goalies, they have Soderblom who was arguably the best goalie in the AHL last season and Commesso who's a top prospect. Zucker is a dump to the Hawks...period...he has zero value to them. Poulin and the late 1st and late 2nd are really the only interesting pieces to the Hawks and frankly that's just not enough. Poulin doesn't move the needle enough obviously and POJ is not a area of need.

Ok, I'll play devils advocate here... The best evaluation of this trade.
Dropping Chad was just another one of Murray's errors.
Of course he is not a top 4 defenseman, but at $800,000 he is valued properly.
Buffalo will not be trading for RHD at this time.
Laaksonen appears to have received Seth Apperts message and has stepped up his defensive skills and could find himself in the line up this fall.
Sabres management likes Fitzgerald's skill set and if the offensive resurgence he displayed in the AHL is the norm and not an aberration, he may exceed his 36 games played last year.
There could be other teams giving up a fourth for Chad just not the Sabres.

Nothing in what you said matters; he has shown no drop-off in production and never has played any defense so what's your point? As I said originally, for a rental, Kane will pull in more then anyone the NHL has seen in recent years; he's as much as a game changer as a rental then anyone we've seen in recent years.

I also never said "a star prospect", I said a top prospect and very few top prospects are potential "stars", meaning there are a lot of team's top prospects (like a Knies in Toronto) who are top 6 potential. To further quantify the point I made, I mentioned Kappo as an example and apparently you haven't been paying much attention but Kappo is not anywhere close to being a star in this league...he's projected as a middle 6 winger at this point and considered a flop from the #2 position he was drafted at as such...still a very good prospect but not a star or A+ prospect. If I meant star or A+ prospect, I'd probably say a 1st plus LAF no?

Try paying attention to what people actually write versus what you assume their intent is.

And you probably think Kaapo is still worth his #2 draft position because you don't watch enough hockey to see he's shown little to be a A level prospect anymore. You also clearly can't read so your opinions in general comes off as crazy attempts to troll LMAO

Yeah, I wasn't arguing that BUF should take him. Just the comment by the road scholar about why would any team pay for him. He is a rock solid dman at $800K and has actually boosted the underlying stats of anyone he was paired with.
