Why wouldn't Phi just get a rental if it's to replace Couturier for the year? Commence Kerfoot to PHI ACGMs.

With Hayes making 7m and Frost in his final year of his ELC, and the state of the team as a whole. It doesn't make much sense to give up futures or to acquire players with term without sending out a roster player with term. They are probably not going to make it to the playoffs anyways, so better to just find an internal replacement and keep their first.

That is a great proposal (kerfoot)

Fills a neeed on both side. Not sure about return but the idea of kerfoot to Philadelphia makes sense

JVR is gone after next season so 7M gone, and Ellis is porbbaly never playing again so another 6.25 gone. Cap isnt an issue and Dvorak makes only 1M more than Kerfoo. Kerfoot also has a 10 team NTC, id bet the Flyers are one of those 10 teams . And the worry about position is nullified by the fact Dvorak can also play the wing at the same level and that hes a much better C than kerfoot.

“Third round pick if they’re lucky but I’d say a fourth rounder sounds more on target,” the first source said. “I know he started to play better under Marty [St. Louis] but he is what he is, and on a Stanley Cup contender, that’s a third line centre.” - NHL Exec

The Kerfoot thing was just a joke, they can get a rental like him if they want but they probably aren't playoff bound anyways so they could just play players above their spot or get a rental.

I knew you were going to mention JVR but the point is if Couturier is back then they will have an excess of centers, I don't think they can get rid of Hayes or want to, so unless you are suggesting Phi trades Frost for Dvorak or elsewhere, it doesn't make much sense in the long-term. Plus if Dvorak isn't a good fit they would be stuck with him. The internal option is probably what they will go for to start with at least, they signed Anisimov to a PTO, so guessing everyone will play in a spot above their usual or they may claim someone off waivers if they get the chance.

No, which is why getting Dvorak for what you described as a temporary problem doesn't make much sense. If it's probably that Couturier never plays again then perhaps it would make sense depending on the ask.

At no point did I say that... Trading for a guy that slots as a 3C and playing him as a 1C in no way increases his value, he's just a really really bad 1C at that point. The whole premise of your post is talking about the Flyers not tanking and staying relevant, if they're looking to do that why would they bring in a 3C and play him above where he should slot? The point still remains that Dvorak's value is a mid round pick.

But even if Couts comes back, the flyers can slot him onto the wing or take faceoffs for Frost. And hes there for 3 years. Will get you 40-50 points, play good defence and be a menace on faceoffs.

Perhaps, but I think that might lead to a crowded line up, I guess if the price isn't too steep then it might not be a bad idea. They then can move someone else next year if he meshes, but giving up a 1st is probably not worth it.

“If he is playing a 200-foot game then he can be really effective and I think rotate between the second or third slot up the middle,” - The other guy in the article.

Not really the raving review you've made it out to be eh? Haha, we and our? If the Habs ask for what they they gave up for Dvorak in a trade then 31 teams will "go bye bye"
