Carter Hart

Équipe: 2022-23 Maple Leafs de Toronto
Date de création initiale: 16 sept. 2022
Publié: 16 sept. 2022
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
I know Flyer fans were in love with this guy when he first came up, and he still has potential, and he's been in some bad teams, but if Philly goes into fire sale mode with another disappointing season, I think the Leafs should try to acquire him. He's still young (24) and with an improving blueline in the coming seasons (Rielly, Liljegren, Sandin, Niemela, maybe a top free agent d man in Hanifin or Pesce signing once cap situation is much better) I think his numbers can improve and he can be a long term option. And for people saying the value is off, this is a "what have you done for me lately" league, and Hart has had two really bad seasons, and if he continues to struggle, I say the deal is fair.

Hart has been an inconsistent goalie on a bad team. He can be good behind the right team imo, but I’m not sure how eager I would be to the test that theory in Toronto.

If they had just kept Campbell, or added Fleury at last year’s deadline, I’d feel much more confident in the Leafs future than I do now.

So if Hart is inconsistent, PHI takes Murray (who must have stayed bad)? Hahahaha.

So you think this trade is 22-23 while PHI starts a firesale, but that means that Murray has been pretty mediocre in TOR and if Robertson doesnt really show it this year, he probably has very little value.

So two bad trade pieces and a late round first? I think youd have to add Knies or Hirvonen and offer something other than Murray, who has negative value, (especially if you're dealing him after PHI has another disappointing season).

Nothing that Jack accomplished in TO would leave me as a Leaf fan happy with having Jack in net for the next 5 years for 5mil per. Jack is 1000% one of the best humans in hockey but he has had inconsistant play and injury prone. Would i have taken Jack at 5mil over 2 season over what we currently have yes but Jack still has his question marks as does Fred (Both need PO success). The Leafs need a legit killer in net come playoffs with the current mental fragility of this team and that will not change with replacing a bunch of bottom six players. Goaltend will make or break this team come PO

For the Same reasons you want to acquire him, i don’t see why philly would let him go for this. I agree he hasn’t been good since that rookie campaign, but is a late first, an okay prospect, and a cap dump supposed to outweigh his potential?

Hart hadn’t proven he’s that the guy either. Sometimes you are better off betting on a really good human being instead of a dude made of glass.

I agree with you, Hart wouldn't be my first option but him over MM 100% the same with Blackwood. I would risk them getting back to what they were as opposed to Soup becoming Tim Thomas.
unfortunately Vasi, sorokin,Shesterkin,Hellebuyck are not available and pretty much the rest of them all fall under the same category of not really proving they can win in the playoffs

I put the Russians in their own category tbh. Closely followed by Saros, Demko, Hellebyuck and Oettinger.
But if you don’t have one of those 7 guys, then I’d rather have someone like Campbell who is at least league average.

So the leafs give up a premium to get a guy who isnt even better than Murray? Why on earth would they do that? The Leafs dont need a long term option in net, they need a guy who can help them contend now. Hart is not that guy, Murray probably isnt either but they arnt giving up good assets to let a younger guy stink.

Only thing I like about MM is he has won two cups and was a big part of it, very similar to what Kuemper did with the AVs. They didn't lose their team the cup! They didn't need to steal the cup for the other team they just needed not to give it to them. Leaf goalies over the last few PO have been just as mentally(weak first goals) and the other teams goalies haven't given up the leaky goals at the wrong time.

Murray's main issue is health, if he's healthy he's probably good enough. Hart is basically in a spiral and isnt too far off Raycrofting his career. A goalie upgrade is certainly in the cards for the leafs, but they arnt giving up assets to just get a younger bad goalie

The issue is he hasn't lived up to his potential, hence the bad trade value. The league and minors/Europe are full of guys with "potential" but the vast majority don't make it or become mediocre players. It's actually a gamble for TO, but I'd take that chance with the trade.

It's based on his potential (still only 24). And he's been on some bad teams. It's not a huge hall, sure Robertson looks like a good prospect, and it's a late first rounder, plus a question mark in Murray. It's a gamble yes, but could work out great on a more talented team like the Leafs.

Right, but what possible upside is there for Philly?
