Can we please stop with the Girard for Devo trades? It's not happening.

So MTL gets a top pairing dman that qb’s their PP and COL gets a 3C and draft picks. COL will pass on that. If MTL could convince EDM to that deal that’d be a pretty good deal for them.

Even if those 2 ideas have been published dozens of times, I still haven't heard a good argument on why both teams wouldn't consider them.

You may not accept the arguments that have been presented but the objection is sound: the Avs build their team from the D out. Giving up a strong puck-mover and skater like Girard (who happens to be young and have a good contract) in order to get a guy that has an injury history that is a borderline 3C/2C when they have other options already on the team just doesn't make much sense. This isn't to say Devo is a bad player; he'd probably do well with the Avs. But what they give up to get him isn't a good move for them considering how the team is constructed and the way they play.

Avs litterally won the cup without Girard and Dvorak would be the perfect cheap replacement for Kadri, who they will need to replace to contend again.

Also you should accept Dvorak is the one with a good contract and Girard the one with the injury history. See what I just did there? The same negative and positive points you made applies to both players but you only retained the ones that fits you.

It's just the perfect fit.

LOL. Go look at the injury history of both players - Devo has missed more time and had more severe injuries than Girard; that's just facts. Devo is not nearly as effective as Kadri so saying he can just step in and replace him is, at best, wildly optimistic. And you're still ignoring that the Avs built their team from out from a mobile D; shedding Girard puts them in a tough spot in a few years when Toews leaves because they can't afford to re-sign him. You're the one who is determined to show that the trade is "perfect fit" and spinning the narrative to make it work.

Edmonton declines. There's no logic behind that offer from Edmonton's perspective.

I've yet to see a good argument why Edmonton would consider it.
