Description
LA could benefit from another Left D. Leafs could benefit from another Right D.

I really like Sandin. I love his potential and what he brings to the table already. Durzi just had a great year also.

Thoughts from both fan bases?

Depends on how much money Sandin is looking for on his deal. The Kings only have $4M to sign both Anderson and Durzi, and Anderson will probably get more than half.

I see him coming in around what Durzi is gonna get or bit under.

1 year 1.25
2 year 1.4m (basing this off Lily)
3 year 1.8-2m

Is my guess.

I paid Durzi a bit more here than what I listed above.

Paying for one of your picks you have gave up on is kind of like getting back with your Ex girlfriend a last resort type of thing. I think Sandin is worth more then that and personally id be more interested in Mikey Anderson

If he's willing to agree to the 1- or 2-year deals ahead of the trade, then I could see the Kings pulling the trigger on a deal like that. Kings likely can't afford the 3-year cap hit.

Leafs didn't give up on Durzi. They had to trade a good prospect to get Muzzin. It's not like they wanted to get rid of Durzi. They just really wanted Muzzin. Just because a prospect is traded, doesn't mean the origination didn't believe in them.

Why would LA trade Anderson? They are weaker on Left D. The entire point of this trade was to strengthen their left D.

Sandin for Durzi isn't the natural it seems to be at first blush. To begin with, Los Angeles has no more than $2 million to sign Sandin, and if he was interested in signing for that, Toronto would have gotten his signature already. Second, we have 3 LhD's under contract on the main roster now -- Edler, Moverare and Bjornfot -- and that will become 4 when we re-sign Mikey Anderson, so adding Sandin isn't the perfect fit people seem to think it is. (However, in all fairness, if the strategic plan is to send Bjornfot back to Ontario so that he can get double the playing time he would get in the NHL, that objection disappears.) Third, I'm sold on Durzi, especially in his offensive capabilities (he has as many points in 64 games as Sandin has in 88), but I'm not sold on Sandin. I'm told that he's definitely top-4 material, but I believe that Durzi has already shown that he is top-4 material. Fourth, we know that Durzi is a good student in the Los Angeles system; we don't know that about Sandin. (I'm under the impression that he was scratched for the playoffs, not injured.)

Maybe it's just personal bias -- and I'm completely willing to admit it -- but I'm not a fan of this exchange.

It’s as if Toronto fans live in an echo chamber. Multiple fans trying to justify the Durzi/Sandin trade. The probability of it happening is very low I’m sure

Im really not sold on this as Durzi to me looked alright but not great. More offense than defense. And when Doughty got hurt he really didnt impress

Would rather just keep Sandin

Plus Niemela is a thing and by 2023 got a feeling will push for an NHL job

Echo chamber? I literally asked both fans what they thought of this move and their interest. That's the opposite of sitting in an echo chamber.

Yeah but you’re talking about a specific example, I’m talking about the multitude of Leaf fans I’ve seen on this site who have made this trade or tried to trade Jake Muzzin back to LA in their proposed trades which is not the opposite of an echo chamber. It in fact proves my initial statement

Sometimes trade concepts make sense. LA clearly has more organizational depth on the Right. Toronto has more on the left. You have 2 young RFA's who are unsigned. The swap does make sense. Personally I love the physicality that Sandin has in his game, so I would prefer keep him, since the Leafs need more of that. But if Sandin were traded, a guy like Durzi would be nice to get back. I can see why both teams would make this trade. I also see why they wouldn't.

As for Muzzin, there would be a fit on LA but cap wise it doesn't work unless it's part of a bigger deal and Muzzin would need to waive (which I suspect he would for LA). But in all likelihood this does not happen.

Sometimes trades are proposed by a lot of people because people see that they can or could make sense for both parties. Which the one listed here does.

Exactly what you said about seeing how the proposed trades working and not working I find interesting. I say an echo chamber because though this trade makes sense enough for Toronto, fellow Kings fans like myself have given examples as to why LA wouldn’t do the trade, not that it isn’t a trade that makes sense. With this information coming from fans who know the fan base better and let’s be honest are the ones who watch the team play, they would have an idea of what the team may or may not do. Would my premise then prove what I said about being in an echo chamber, yes or no ?

No, considering when I posted this AGM, I had not seen any other Sandin and Durzi trades being done. I am sure they existed and I believe you that they had. (I have seen quite a few since I posted this though). So I was posting this from my own sight and not from seeing it elsewhere. Also, other LA fans have agreed that they would be okay with this deal as well. So it's not 100% of the fan base who dislikes this trade concept. Same goes for the Toronto side of things.

The answer is yes as my explanation was based on the other posts previously that you yourself didn’t see. Some LA fans say yes some say no, some leaf fans say yes or no sure. But the resounding opinion from many LA fans is no to both. Especially the Muzzin trade which doesn’t make sense from a cap perspective if we’re being honest

They signed Anderson to a 1x1 now you have 3M for Durzi
