Both age and contract status is important when trading for players. Age is important for your desire to resign them and contract status is important for your desire to acquire them in the first place.
If you are unable to understand that then I can't help you.
Oh, BTW. Your post isn't funny. It's never funny when someone makes a fool of himself.
The Panthers gave up a 1st plus in aquiring both Chiarot and Giroux, and the Flames gave up a 2nd and 3rd for Calle Jarnkrok. All 3 of those guys were trade deadline rentals who walked afterwards, and are on the wrong side of 30. I'm sure those teams wanted to get those players to stick around for more than ~15-20 regular season games, but couldn't afford it.
When teams are good, they're willing to give up significant futures in hopes of success in the present. They don't care about age or contract status. They care about results.
If you are unable to understand that, then I can't help you.
Toffoli is typically good for about 20 goals and 50 points, and isn't a traffic cone defensively. Kylington had finally established himself on Calgary's blue line this year as a middle pairing guy on one of the best teams defensively. Both guys, at least right now, are a lot better than Zadina. And I'm skeptical that that will change.
