Lundell has two seasons left on his ELC. Toews has two years until UFA status. I don’t think there is a chance in hell florida would consider this.

My idea here is that Florida has the biggest need filled in this trade, top 4 left d, so they should be urgent to make a trade like this. That means they have to overpay a little because the Avs sure as heck don’t need to do this.

no need for the avs to do this. toews is on one of the best contracts for a dman, him and makar are also one of the best pairings.

Lundell is fantastic. Personally I wouldn’t consider this if I was florida.

I proposed this trade for after the coming season when Florida can negotiate an extension with Toews beforehand. It's a crazy trade, but one that does make some sense for both teams. Not sure either does it, but it's not a quick no for either team.

I know the CHI trade is just auxiliary to the main trade involving Lundell, but CHI isn't going to cough up Mitchell as a supplemental piece to any trade, especially not a cap dump. He is arguably our top RHD prospect, and he is very close to being NHL ready if he isn't already NHL ready.

For sure. I get the logic. I just doubt CHI would use one of their top RHD prospects in that fashion without getting more in return. Those picks barely even pay for the Hornqvist dump, in my opinion.

Instead of trading the future of the franchise for a soon-to-be-UFA defenseman, they can instead wait for free agency 2023 and sign a defenseman of similar caliber, while keeping Lundell... Seems like a no brainer which decision the Panthers should make
