Would rather attach a 2nd or something to Bailey than sell that low on Beau

Islanders decline. They aren’t selling that low on Beau cause they can move Varly. They don’t really have to worry about teams asking for high draft picks in a Josh Bailey trade either. Only reason isles would have to dump him is if they had no alternative. The isles have several alternatives.

If Lou really is signing Kadri I expect the first guy he moves will be Varly. Takes the pressure off Lou to dump bailey or sell Beauvillier for scraps.

Possibly. If Vegas is willing to make a move for Varly I could see it but that's not the easiest move to make for vegas their in Cap trouble too. I think Josh Bailey will just cost too much to dump not just a second at least a first. To me the best alternative is just not to sign Kadri especially to a 7 X 7 that's an awful deal. For someone who was regressing until this past year.

If Kadri happened much earlier in the offseason I would totally agree with you. My concern would be who he finds as a capable backup behind Sorokin, because Schneider should not be that guy. Maybe it’s posturing, but Lou never really seemed genuinely interested in moving Varly any time the topic has come up. I’m paraphrasing but he basically implied goaltending is a key strength of this team and you don’t create a hole there just to fill another

I’m gonna be brutally honest here. I don’t believe in signing guys Kadri’s age unless they have a much better track record than he does and it’s much shorter term. If he signed the same deal Giroux did I’d be fine with it.

I like Beauviller, but he isn't worth his contract or worth a young defenseman with top 4 upside.

Didn’t he just have a hip surgery? Big risk. Also doesn’t clear a ton of cap. Assuming it’s him and a draft pick, is roughly $2.6m in savings going to be enough to get everything done?

It would obviously be dependent on his health. If he isn’t ready to go I would just raise my asking price. Then I’d trade Panik and a mid round pick for Hill on San Jose who is a capable backup.

If trading a player they need for an expensive one they don't need, is coming out ahead, alright.

Jets have like 12 LD they have no glaring Need for Samberg. They need a Winger tho. Samberg is depth more than anything atm.

Samberg realistically could play 2nd pair this year with pionk. But the jets do have a major issue with a log jam at D. They are going to lose people on waivers (kovacevic, Gawanke) and need to clear some space. I’d make this deal for sure though, but Lou says no.

Samberg could be top 4D, maybe even this year, Beauviller is an easy to find bottom sixer. No one trades a potential top 4 defenseman for depth that can be found easily and at a cheaper cost.

Winnipeg doesn't have $4.0 mil of cap space to throw away on a bottom sixer.

Beau is more of a middle-6 player that has had 20 goal pace for most of his career. Beau Is not Depth. I might be underating Samberg a Bit but id have Heinola, Dillon, Morrissey, pionk, Schmidt, and Dymelo all playing ahead of him. Then have Stanley as the 7d
