You're still failing to understand the rule. It doesn't matter if he comes back by the last week of the season. His full 100% cap hit comes back when he does. You don't accrue money to use.

I know how LTIR works. There is a cut off date in February, we will find a way to hold out, make sure he doesn’t come back before then and we will hold him out until playoffs. He will not play until playoffs.

Agree with you there. I think this opens up the canes window to make a move, but a cheap one at that. Anything over 3m is pushing it. I think bringing in Milano or kessel is the best course of action because they would be cheap and then when patches is ready, the canes can move somebody who is underperforming to free up cap. Gards could be moved, bear could be moved, Marty could be moved although it’s unlikely. A cheap replacement imo is the move here.

Just because a player starts the season on LTIR does not mean you get that LTIR cap space for the entirety of the season. You are screwed as soon as he is healthy
