You never know with this franchise. I would have doubted Chicago would have traded DeBrincat for 7th overall, a 2nd and 3rd. I would have doubted Chicago would trade Dach away for the 13th pick. I would have doubted Chicago would let Strome and Kubalik walk for nothing and replace them with Athanasiou and Domi. I would have doubted Chicago would trade David Jiricek, Cole Sillinger, Adam Boqvist for Seth Jones and Nolan Allen.

Kubalik had a $4M QO (not worth it obviously) and Strome a $3.6M QO, BUT arbitration eligible and Strome would have easily got $4.5M if they went to arbitration. So it's understandable why they were unable to qualify him. Dach was having work ethic issues and honestly, I'm happy with Nazar over Dach as most fans are so not a bad trade there either IMO.
