Description
Love to see Donny getting those three deals done yesterday. We all knew they were bound to happen and it was exciting how it all went down in one day. My only question would be, why did it take so long? Looking at this team I cannot be 100% confident that they're going to make the playoffs. I think the Goaltending tandem and Defensive core are up there with the best in the league. But the forward group lacks a little bit of depth. Hopefully Studnicka and Steen turn up this year because they will be needed to produce throughout the whole year. Maybe the Smith trade doesn't need to happen as there is room to not make that move.

Lines w/o Marchand, McAvoy, and Grzelcyk:

DeBrusk - Bergy - Stud/Lysell
Hall - Krejci - Pasta
Zacha - Coyle - Steen
Freddy/Foligno/Greer - Nosek/Beecher - McLaughlin/Lettieri/Wagner

Hampus - Subban
Zboril/Ahcan - Carlo
Forbort - Clifton/Carrick

You don't get positive returns for cap dumps.

Question to ask yourself. Why would Chicago pay a 3rd for a 29 year old Dman with 2 years left on his deal? They are rebuilding, and not trying to win for the next 2 years at least.

Thanks, but neither of those players are cap dumps.

The Bears are going to influence them to make the trade.

You clearly don’t understand what constitutes a player that is a an actual cap dump versus a player that needs to be moved to clear cap space. They are not one in the same. Foligno is a cap dump, a player with negative value. Reilly and Smith have value to an acquiring team. Big difference. There is also difference in desperation by the teams moving them. Boston is not desperate like a Vegas for example

I'm not a Bruins fan but I disagree with your assessment, I think the Bruins have pretty good forward depth, quite good actually but their D core is a bit suspect and the goaltending tandem is good but not among the best in the league.

Jets probably don't want to spend $3.1 million on Smith, as they have their middle 6 right wings in Perfetti and Appleton (or Wheeler and Appleton depending on how you number the lines). I don't expect them to do much with the roster at all.

I think Smith would be a nice fit with the jets and dont see him as a cap dump at all. Actually...paying this price is a bargain for a versatile F who's consistently put up numbers in this league
The jets really dont need another F but he would be an improvement

I like the Subban add, but his agent thinks he's still worth around 3-4 on a multiple year deal. That might be wishful thinking but he probably gets more than 800K.
I do think it would be a good idea for Subban to take a one year deal to prove he's worth more money and term

I guess Smith wouldn't be too bad, but I don't think the Jets can fit him in cap wise.

I think they can, but it's tight. I wonder if they have any interest in bring Stastny back on a one year deal? or has his time come and gone with the jets?
A buddy of mine who knows someone in the jets organization called Wheeler, Stast and Scheifle the "whisperers" because at intermission and other times in the locker room they would seclude themselves and talk about whatever. This is kinda why i want them all or at least one of Scheifle or Wheeler gone.

You clearly don't understand the direction Chicago is headed. In the context of trading Reilly to Chicago, that is a camp dump. Chicago doesn't have a need for Reilly. He adds no value to the team over the next 2 seasons based on what they are doing. Send him elsewhere for a draft pick.

You clearly don’t understand my post had nothing to do with Reilly destination. I said nothing of the that. I said Reilly has value to a team. I did not say it was Chicago. Reading comprehension…try it.

Neither was Patches but Vegas had to add and got absolutely nothing in return. With only about 6 teams with available cap space to about 12 teams that need to move players to become cap compliant, that cap space will be at a premium.
Boston is my 2nd team so I hate to say it, but sorry, you probably need to add a sweetener for anyone to take Smith, probably for future considerations.

Vegas is still 6m over with a 21 man roster and Hague still to sign.

Boston is cap compliant by burying Wags and Foligno leaving a 22 man roster.

Huge difference.

Subban isn't good and the Bruins can just have Carrick/Ahcan as extra D. Don't trade Reilly (or Smith) if you end up having $3.6M in cap space.
