Description

Tre has discussed happiness with defensive depth and with goaltending. Stated he wants to improve the forward group. Nylander is from Calgary and still has 2 years of team control. Hanifin is due a new contract after next year and his value may never be higher than it is now. With the Weegar acquisition and Treliving stating he is a top pairing defenseman I see them moving a top 4 dman, not named Tanev. Which leaves Andersson and Hanifin - I would be open to moving either to complete a Nylander swap.

Is a 1 for 1 possible?

Return Sean close to his hometown and where he played junior hockey, I don't see a roster spot for him on this team beyond this season anyways.

Saving 1m in cap doesn't help the Leafs much, and LHD isn't a need for the Leafs. But the trade might be fair. Ottawa has no need for Monahan or his cap.

Ottawa is looking for a top 4 RHD and nothing else. If you aren't calling about moving Andersson, Tanev or Weegar, there's not much point in calling us.

Anderson is a top pairing RD at a reasonable contract for 2 more years after this season. I wouldn't trade him for Nylander straight up. Toronto has more cap issues than Calgary. I wouldn't do the Hanifin trade either.

I mean, Calgary's D is stacked. I wouldn't have issue with them rolling Hanifin - Anderson, Kylington -Weegar, Zadorov - Tanev this season. Meloche and Valimaki are good back ups. Really, Calgary is just waiting for Lucia and Monahan's contracts to expire. It clears and additional 12M in Cap for next season. Huby takes and additional 5M. They still have room until 24 when there is a sizeable cap increase. I think Tanev would be moved if anyone, but I'm not sure where. I'd like Nylander , but I think Calgary needs a strong D core to make it further into the playoffs.
