If they win the Cup, then perhaps it would be worth it. If they lose, even in the Finals then it would be a fail. Win or lose though they will be set back years the following season with a weaker team and a weaker prospect pool.

Doesn't make sense for us, we need RHD not LHD and Muzzin isn't worth his contract so we might as well go after someone better.

I agree but cap is king. Ham only has this year remaining, Muzz has an extra year at higher cap. I'd rather keep Muzz but the money has to come from somewhere.

The Hawks would HAVE to say yes to this for so many reasons, BUT Toews has never played wing. He's not playing it for TOR either. They'd have him as the #3C and Kampf the #4C. It would be pretty sick to have your faceoff guys at 57%, 60%, 59%, 53%.

Yeah I feel like it's this year or it's over for Dubas anyway so might as well go for it. At least they'd have cap room after this year.

Fair. I moved him around quite a but before hitting the publish button.

Yeah it's hard to find any trade partner for that move really.

Lol, the Leafs probably should target captain clutch at the deadline if they can get him at 3m-4m cap hit without giving up too much.

If he did that move and they went out in the first round, it would be over for him as a GM in the League, not just the GM of the Leafs.

I also like the idea that it would free up cap space for them to make a run at Huberdeau next offseason.

Huberdeau would be 10m though lol and there's no guarantee they get him anyways, better off keeping Nylander, and adding Kane or Toews at the deadline. Next off-season they either resign both Matthews and Nylander, one of them, or realize that they will lose both, Nylander would be tradeable even with his M-NTC, but Matthews wouldn't and they wouldn't want to anyways.

You could also involve a 3rd team like AZ/BUF/ANA/etc... because for a 3rd team to take on an additional 50% retention on cap for Toews...it would only cost $725k in cash...total. Less that the league minimum for a player. IF Dubas really wants to make a splash...there are ways he could get both Toews/Kane (if they wanted to go to TOR) pretty easily.

Acquisition cost will be through the roof though lol.

You want two Conn Smythe winners? They're not likely staying in CHI...so do you want to go AGAINST two Conn Smythe winners?

If you acquire one, you won't have to go up against both of them.
