Habs have a dilemma

Description
I don’t know what Dach is going to sign for, I don’t know the D combinations but the Habs have 1 too many wingers and two, if Slafkovsky makes the team.

So here’s my question: which 2 wingers will be moved before puck drop?

Not focused on team or return, just which 2 wingers are traded?

My guess will be it will be Slafkovsky and Montembeault to Laval. Not ideal but we need to juggle cap issue til the habs trade some rentals. Then we have lots of cap space

Although I, unlike a lot of habs fans, would hope it to be Anderson and Drouin, my guess is Hoffman and Armia.

Plus, if Isac Lundestrom signed for 2y/1.8m, Dach will be making more than 1.8 on a 3yr bridge deal. Probably closer to 2.4

If Dach gets more, that’s more cap to move out. Unless price isn’t playing.

This would be the smart thing to do imo. Get more value on trade assets for this upcoming deadline, and let the young guns tear up the AHL in laval for a calder run.

I agree Drouin could get something, depending how he plays.

So far I like Kent Hughes moves. Who knows how Slafkovsky will play but him and Mesar in Laval would be really good.

There's a chance Byron is not ready for training camp, so in order of likelihood

1. Hoffman
2. Drouin
3. Dadonov
4. Armia
5. Gallagher

I think Drouin and Dadonov play most of the season and are dealt as deadline rentals for picks. Armia has too much term to be moved and the same is true for Gallagher. I’d also like to see Gallagher here to provide leadership as we build a young core.

Hoffman should be dangled on the market but I wouldn’t pay to dump him. If none wants to take a chance for cheap then waive him. Byron also should be waived

Byron will likely start the season on LTIR and maybe never play again. He is pretty bang up, a hip, knees, shoulder. Rehab isn’t goiing well either. That would gave Mtl time to find trade partner. There probably a team that will face injury problem and would trade for Dadonov or Drouin to fill the void during the season. Both players can still play at a respectable level even if people enjoy ripping on Drouin. He is still a very good middle 6 winger.

As usual there’s always a lot of “ifs” in hockey but if Price can’t go, that’s a ton of cap space. How will Slafkovsky be at NHL level? Maybe he’s fine but maybe a year in Laval with Mesar might do him some good. Is Byron able to go a full season or is he done?

So many intangibles.
