Ha, ha, no, we're not trading the guy who was our top defensemen after Drew Doughty went down for the season.

Toronto has a bad history of trading young prospects or up-and-coming players to LA and regretting it later. Don't want to go through that again haha

Matt Roy is worth far, far more to us than Rasmus Sandin would be.

If the Kings got Sandin it would be to pair him with Roy to make up for young NHLer mistakes. Doesn’t make sense unless it was a Sandin for Durzi flip or something similar.

I figured with Durzi, Spence and Doughty he might be expendable.

I would rather keep Durzi tbh, but I’m not a kings fan. All IK is that Durzi is really really good when I watch him.

Durzi and Spence are offensive defensemen, and make the expected number of defensive mistakes every game. Roy is an exceptional defensive defenseman, and he's Sandin's natural partner if we were to acquire Sandin. (Sandin is an excellent prospect, by the way; I'm not discounting his talent or value at all.)

Durzi reminds me a little bit of Devon Toews only he’s a righty.

Anderson and Roy play the primary shutdown role for this team, if you gave that assignment to Durzi, he'd need Edler to do that for him, Edler doesn't want to play too much, so he can be in playoff shape at the end of the season.

With Clarke, Durzi, Spence, and Grans all coming, and each one is primarily offense oriented, the real need is our shut-down LDs to get ice time in and potentially learn from Matt Roy. There will likely be several players in rotation at LD for the Kings:

Anderson-Doughty

(Edler, Walker, Bjornfot)-Roy

(Edler, Bjornfot, Moverare)- Durzi

If Durzi makes too many defensive mistakes Clarke and Spence will be ready to take over for 3RD.

Durzi is a decent defender imo. Any elite puck handling d man will make mistakes, but it’s kind of like beer league defense. You can’t score if I score first lol.

I think LAK should be trying to acquire Carson Soucy. He’s exactly what they need and his extension should be very reasonable.

There are several names they were rumored to be after: Chychrun, Provorov, Sanheim

All the Seattle d-men sort of seem off to me, Dunn feels poorly used and Soucy shows flashes. but I really don't know who would fit us well long-term

The dude I think that works perfect for us is Grzelcyk (aside from his height), if Boston rebuilds next season, he could be had.

Another under-the-radar pick for next season is Nick Jensen for a short contract to play the Alex Edler role until more of our LDs graduate (Bjornfot, Moverare).

Jensen is a righty. And Soucy is cheaper than the other guys and had good metrics in Seattle and Minnesota.

I thought he (Jensen) played both sides, but Soucy might be intriguing and is closer to the right age.
