Anaheim passes especially since after this draft we are completely set on defensemen for the future

COL isn’t trading for Kerfoot period, they traded him away and he doesn’t fit what they are looking for in their forwards. Love the kids heart but he isn’t playing a physical forecheck game.

Retaining 2M for 5 years is worth wayyyyyy more than the difference between a late 1st and a late 2nd

Congratulations. Among all of the clueless John Gibson trades, that's absolutely the worst I've ever seen. Don't Toronto fans understand the idiotic internal inconsistency in acquiring a goaltender because they think he's going to provide starting-netminder-quality goaltending for 4 or 5 seasons but paying this kind of ridiculously inadequate package that wouldn't be enough to acquire most third-line centers?

My brother in Christ. He has a .904 save percentage for three straight years. Don’t bandwagon Anaheim + LA + NYI might as well just cheer for the whole league at that point understand the idiotic internal inconsistencies of getting value for a player that’s shown he’s taken a step back but has potential to play better when put in front of a better team?

Dude I think he has potential with a better situation and a contending team. You spend too much time on these forums roasting every Gibson trade proposal lol. There’s no salary retention in this offer. What do you believe would be a fair offer for both sides?

I roast every Gibson proposal because they're all almost as bad as yours, just as I roast every idiotic Toronto proposal to trade the moribund Jake Muzzin to Los Angeles -- usually for a more valuable player outright, without a clue about cap considerations.

Given the difference between Darcy Kuemper's rental status and Gibson's five-year term, I think that the return for Gibson should be somewhat higher than the first-round draft pick and good prospect that Joe Sakic paid for Kuemper. To me, that's your 2023 first, Matt Knies and Topi Niemela. Anything less and we have no incentive to move him. A lot of Toronto fans think that we're flogging Gibson 'round the League and the Maple Leafs are doing the Ducks a favor by taking Gibson off Anaheim's hands. The opposite is true: neither we nor Gibson (apparently, and explicitly) want to move him.

Welcome to CapFriendly, by the way. It's always good to see new people joining in.

Yea I just think muzzin and Gibson are similar in the sense that they both had rough years and are locked into term. My trade proposal is not bad lol. Niemela is a top prospect and we can argue 1st vs second rounder but that’s where it ends. Knies should be off the table for Tor.

In regards to kuemper he was coming off seasons of a sv % in the late .920s. Plus his salary was 4.5 mil and Colorado was desperate because they lost grubauer and lost out on ulmark so their were no options left.

I’m not saying Gibson is bad but he could use a change of scenery. We’ve seen goalies like grubauer, fleury and nedelkovic all struggle when put on worst teams.

Tbh I think you got something against leaf fans. Every team has bad proposals, bad fans etc. Honestly I like the discourse and appreciate the welcome.

Ya I don’t think he has anything against leafs fans. His views aren’t exactly pro leafs but he’s respectful and he’s one of the best ducks fans on here imo.

Welcome to CF. I don't the Ducks trading Gibson, unless there is a good plan in place for his replacement. Nor do I see the Leafs willing to give up too much in a trade even if Gibson was retained and the Leafs got him at lets say 5m. Leafs would be better just to sign a 5m UFA. By the way your 2m X 5 years retention by another team would cost more.
Really I don't see a fit for Gibson to the Leafs, though I think your proposal was a good thought in many ways.

Hi Pal. It's a beautiful day, warm and sunny. For the past few days I've been in Parry Sound. 150 miles north west of Toronto on Georgian Bay (Lake Huron).
Here's my thought on the Leafs goalie situation. They would prefer Campbell but don't have the cap if it means losing Sandin to an offer sheet. So I think their first priority is to get Sandin signed....is it 1.2m or 4.1m? The with the money available, it might be Campbell, Holtby, maybe a trade. But time is getting close,to UFA signing date, and Sandin has leverage to delay his signing.

I still think that Campbell is your best bet. He's served his apprenticeship and come through. The blips just build character. Good luck!

And I think Campbell would to prefer to play for the Leafs.....a contender. His other options and really the teams can't go wrong having him would be Jersey, Chicago (two of Campbell's geographical choices also) and Oilers.
