Description
To explain my thoughts for these moves:

Malkin - Rossi was pretty accurate on Letang's deal and said it sounds like Malkin can be signed and done for a 4x$6mm deal so that's that.

Strome - Clearly the blackhawks are going complete fire sale and it sounds like they're going to part with everyone, not sure what the asking price is on Strome, it may need to be a 1st rather than a second and in turn take out a prospect. Again, really not sure what his asking price is, but it's clear that the Hawks are big sellers.

Jarnkrok - Would be a really strong bottom 6 to add IMO, can't imagine he will resign in Calgary given the other players they need to work on signing.

Burakovsky - tried to find a solid LW to put with Malkin as i don't believe he's had a great winger on his line in awhile as Zucker has been constantly injured since arriving in Pittsburgh. He may want more $ coming off another cup run, but Colorado has a lot of decisions to make, and assuming that a solid chunk of their cap is going to Georgiev/Nichushkin/Aube-Kubel/Lehkonen (maybe Kadri) so assume a few on that cup roster will be left out.

Trading Zucker - Just hasn't worked since getting to Pit. 1 year left and although he has an NTC and i'm not sure what teams are on it I believe he's from SoCal and the Ducks are under the cap right now. He could be a solid add for them with all of the youth they have on the team as a strong vet in the room.

Trading Pettersson - Feels like it has to be either he or Dumolin. Hex has said the pens would look to dump some cap this offseason and it seems like the thought is to try and move an LD to bring POJ in. Detroit has the cap space and currently only have RD's on the roster so this feels like an ideal trade partner.

Like i said, idk what the asking price is. If it can be McGinn and Kap's rights only, i'm all game.

This team would be great.

As said, probably too much for Strome at this point. And you're going to need to add a sweetener to get rid of Zucker. But neither of those really affects the roster. Looks solid

Yeah, like i said, i have no idea what the price for Strome is, but need to move McGinn to make the whole thing work. As for Zucker, would you need to? I mean yes, it's a 1 year rental, but they're vastly under cap right now and need to fill it. Maybe a low end pick or prospect. Not sure.

Ducks decline on Zucker. Would rather get assets for taking on a bad contract, not give one up. Plenty of teams in need of dumping these types of contracts right now

There might not be an asking price. Rumor is that Chicago isn't interested in offering Strome a Qualifying Offer, which would make him a UFA.

From the sounds of it, it seems like Chicago will not be giving Strome a QO and let him hit the open market. He’d be a pretty solid addition though. But other than that we could just acquire him when and if he hit Free Agency as a UFA.

Yeah I know - I read what you said. And yes - McGinn really needs to go.

And most likely yes to your Zucker point - I think the cost to dump Dadonov was a third round pick and a prospect. Islanders had to give up a 2nd and a 3rd to dump Ladd. Zucker may cost slightly less, but you'll still have to give up something. There's no reason for them to take him otherwise

Sweeten the deal and add picks or a prospect. Zucker is in his final year of his contract, Ducks need to hit the cap floor this year this year while keeping in mind next year they're going to need to sign Comtois, Terry, Zegras and drysdale. They have to be careful on who they add this year for future contracts. Why i felt like Zucker would be a good fit with his cap clearing after the season giving them the room to sign the above noted given that Terry and Zegras are going to be $20mm+ a year while hitting their cap for the year. He can also provide good knowledge to young guys.

Totally. But hitting the cap floor isn’t a difficult thing to achieve, that’s an incredibly easy problem to solve. You saw what it cost to move 2 years of Kassian and 2 years of Mrazek, both at well under the cap Zucker has (granted for 2 years). There are plenty of cap-strapped teams with contracts they’d like to move. Anaheim doesn’t need to move anything to get players on bad deals who only hit the cap for the next year or two. Pit needs to move Zucker way more than ANA needs Zucker, that leverage means Pit needs to entice Anaheim, or there’s not a deal to be had. Easy pass on limiting a young guys ice time for a year of Zucker while giving up a draft pick
