Why wouldn't the NJD and the Hawks want to include the 2023 protected pick? the NJD have a very deep farm system. Keep the guys you wanted to draft like Holtz/Hughes. 2022 1st, 2023 1st with protections and then an agreeable prospect.

I just don't see us trading for Debrincat, especially not the 2nd overall pick. Our most glaring need is a goaltender and maybe another defenseman. In no particular order our top 9 of forwards is Hughes, Hischier, Bratt, Sharangovich, Mercer, Zacha, Tatar, Johnsson, Boqvist and Kuokannen. Plus we've got Holtz, Zetterlund and Foote ready to compete for a spot. I think it's best if we draft whoever's not taken between Wright and Slafkovsky.
