Toronto does this because- get a starting Goaltender under contract for 4 more years. Although his contract is $8 mil AAV, shedding Mrazeks $3.8 AAV truly brings Bobrovskys cost to the leafs down to $4.2 which is a great number for a bonafide number 1 goalie. Just trying to get creative with the ideas.

Why Florida does this- they clear out cap space by trading Bobrovskys big contract and giving Spencer Knight the reins. They also save about $2 million against the cap to help add to their team elsewhere. C Level prospect to round it out.

Bob is 34 years old when the season starts, has had one 'good' season since signing with florida and twice the term as mrazek.
That's a big ol not even close for the leafs

Keep it simple. Buyout Mrazek and sign MAF for 2 years/4 mil AAV. Florida will have to eat half Bob's albatross contract and even then they'll likely not be able to move him. Panthers likely keep him for 2 years before buying him out.

Yeah, I do NOT want Bob in the slightest, he's not reliable and is making way too much. That being said, idc how bad he is, Mrazek and SDA is a terrible offer

Florida probably wouldn't mind that return depending on if this was before FA or not, but I agree with you that it would be a disaster for the Leafs.

If they buy out Mrazek, they clear 7m (7.5m this year) in cap.

The Leafs would better buying out Mrazrek at 1.1m X 4 years and signing a goalie for 4.9 m for for years than taking Bob at a retained 6m a year

The value works out to a 2nd or 3rd to shed 25m in cap(27 m if they bury mrazek and 32m if they trade him) . I would say they are doing okay.
