Honestly I accept if I’m the devils Konecny and we still get a shot at Jiricik or Nemec? I’m cool with that

I'd probably do this. Slafkovsky fills a need for the Devils, but so would Nemec/Jiricek. A trade like this would entirely depend on the opinions of Slafkovsky for both teams, which is pretty divided among the scouts.

If one of the two picks blows up & becomes a star & the other flops, the press will eat that GM alive for a decade. This is the kind of trade that gets GMs fired, but that's why they get the big bucks.

If Im the Devils I ask for Farabee instead of Konecny just because Konecny (although has shown flashes of greatness) is too inconsistent to consider trading that 2nd

I don’t really think this is the move. I really like Slaf (and Cooley as well) but I think the Flyers could easily get another assets since Konecny is being moved

First of all drafting for need is objectively the wrong way to draft, you draft best player available. More importantly though, the Devils seem to love Cutter Gauthier, and if we traded down we'd probably swing on him at 5

This isnt the draft to pay to move up 3 spots. It has below average/have more question marks than usual among the players.

With Farabee, I don’t think you get 5 OA back. He’s shown he has the ability to be elite. He put up good numbers under AV which not many can say, and at that age and contract his value is high. Not saying Philly doesn’t add something, just saying it’s definitely not going to be 5 OA just to move up for Slafkovsky

There's no guarantee Slaf even goes number 2. If Arizona was picking 2, they'd definitely go Cooley. If Cooley was 2 inches taller it would be an easy choice. Then you have two RHD in Nemec and Jiricek right there. Its not close to a slamdunk. The draft is too weak to annoint those kind of awards.
If Montreal wasnt hosting the draft there would be a lot more suspense, even on the number 1 pick, as Wright looks like a 30 goal, 70 point man at best but he's been the guy for 2 years and the Habs cant afford the look of passing on him. You have maybe 10 players next year that could be better. 7-8 almost for sure. Bedard/Michkov are on a different planet in terms of talent to this draft.
It's absolutely shortsighted to pay anything substantial to move up in this draft.
