Miller for Debrusk

Créé par: GMBL

Description
Not going to tire myself with trying to balance the trade but I would like to see what Bos+Van fans think of acquiring the other guy. (Feel free to out your mock trades in the comments). Edit: Debrusk does not need to be the centerpiece

Van: DeBrusk's 2-year deal isn't ideal for Vancouver but you are giving up a rental for him, and perhaps he can bring some of the stuff Miller did to the table.

Bos: With Bergeron coming back on a 1-yr deal, it would be wise to think about that center position before being faced with uncertainty again. Miller seems like a better fit than trading for 2-yrs of PLD or signing Kadri to a big contract. Even at 5m Miller's contract can perhaps give Bos a lot of cap flexibility to go sign guys. Let's assume that Van allows Bos to speak with Miller/give them a ballpark on what he is looking in an extension.

The team was looking empty, so I just paid Boeser and moved guys off IR and LTIR, still a ton of unsigned RFAs.

Maybe adding Garland to the trade wouldn't be a bad idea.

I was excited for the first comment but you didn't read the trade details which said to read the description.

It's just an idea of swapping the two atm, not a mock trade yet.

I read the description.

Any swap with these two as the main pieces would be bad for Vancouver. They should aim for a big piece in return for JTM, not watering down the return.

Ah okay, but still Debrusk doesn't have to be the main piece coming back from Bos, he probably would be the only roster player of significance though. Vancouver needs to shed some cap, so perhaps they can add Miller and Garland, I don't know if Bos would want the two, I don't know anything about Boston's prospect pool either to suggest what A prospect can be included, but yeah perhaps it can be a blockbuster deal of some sort. I don't think it would include Pasta though.

Debrusk isn’t good enough to be a centrepiece in a Miller trade. A 40 point winger who’s 26 and is only team controlled for 2 years? No thanks

He doesn't have to be, he would likely just be the only significant roster player coming out of Boston.

Also, you only have Miller for one year. By all means if Boston has no prospects that would interest Van and they can get a huge package elsewhere like how @Richard88 was suggesting they try, then they will do that instead ofc.

I was thinking Garland and Miller can go to Bos, Garland for Debrusk is pretty much a one for one. So my question is what prospect(s) from Boston could Vancouver use?

I don’t think Boston is a good fit. Can’t think of a prospect that fit Vancouver’s needs. Sorry don’t think there’s a deal here

Ty for your input, I just edited that post but you had already answered.

What do you think of Garland for DeBrusk assuming Miller/Boeser gets extended while the other gets traded for inexpensive but valuable pieces? Perhaps a minor unwanted contract along with Garland and a pick from Boston to offset the risk of losing DeBrusk.

I think the Kuzmenko signing allows the Canucks to trade a winger. Ideally would want a young RHD or center, but I could see Garland for Lysell type of deal. Boston would probably need to a pick.

If you can’t afford to keep Miller (I don’t think Boston can atm) then Boston loses with these pieces, if you can, Vancouver loses.

Honestly, don’t hate the concept. DeBrusk has a good deal and his contract to production is better than what Miller would get probably. But that’s speculation. Would be interesting to see a final deal

Miller would cost too much to the Bruins for one year and if he re-signs (which they shouldn't since signing a 30yo to a contract when the team needs a rebuild isn't the right thing to do), the contract isn't gonna be good. I would simply not acquire Miller. If something can be worked around DeBrusk-Garland, that's more interesting for Boston imo (but not sure if VAN wants to move him).

Apparently they want to move him, Dickinson, and Pearson. The main motivation is to clear cap, so perhaps DeBrusk wouldn't be someone they are interested in
