Manson, Marchment, Bura are all nice adds I like while Rakell, ZAR, and the Gardiner trade are no thank yous to me

I think I may rather try getting a Brock Boeser possibly to play where Rakell is

Kapanen is making too much as well

Because by then Drew Helleson should be ready and if all goes according to plan his ceiling is Josh Manson 2.0, but a better skater and a slightly better knack for offense.

ZAR is an elite defensive forward who could be detrimental to the Ducks penalty kill going forward. I think re-signing him is pretty realistic and $2.3 million AAV for 4 years is a steal. The Gardiner trade essentially gives the Ducks defenseman in Ethan Bear who is still pretty young and a free 2nd for one year of Jake Gardiner, and older dman in Kevin Shattenkirk who might not even play well this coming season, and an injury risk Max Jones who’s more of a liability at this point. I honestly don’t know how the Ducks say no to a trade like this if it’s offered to them unless more can be added going the Ducks way. As for Rakell, that I can agree could not happen at all, but I don’t think bringing him back would be terrible. He’s familiar with the system, he still has plenty of good years left, and it just feels like a direction that Verbeek would want to go if presented to him. As for Kapanen, I really don’t know what a good number for him is but I’m sure he’ll make at least a little bit more than his last contract regardless.

If Manson is only getting 2 years, he'll likely require a much higher AAV

The Henrique deal is a tough one. Pitt would have to be very desperate to take on his contract, and they'd still be giving up a lot. Plus, from a Ducks perspective, Terry played his best when on a line with Henrique and this trade would leave the Ducks very young at center with little to no insurance.

    Why not bring back Elvenes?

Kapanen, 2nd, 3rd for Henrique, Steel

    Kapanen >> Steel
Henrique is fine, but he is not going to be top-6 for the Penguins and is not worth a $6M cap hit.

Pens counter: Zucker, 3rd for Henrique, Steel (and frankly, because of Henrique's cap hit, I don't think that the Pens even do this)

Haven't seen you involved with the hardcore cadre of Anaheim fans before, most of whom are in this thread but not @Lenny7 and @Salzy. Welcome!

Ducks cannot afford to trade Henrique and not address a reliable veteran C that can play on all 4 lines

Id rather keep Milano over both Marchment and Kapanen (especially with that contract he got here)

Waaay to big of a contract to give out to Bura, That Rakell deal is too rich for me as well, I dont see him coming back

That "counter" implies Henrique is negative value, which could not be further from the truth

I like what you say here and the entire ACGM but surely "detrimental" is the completely wrong word? Or did you mean to say "whose loss would be detrimental"?

I like ZAR fine and all but his name and "elite" don't belong in the same sentence.

Jones had a freak injury where he tore a muscle. I don't know how that makes him any more of an injury risk than any other human on the planet. And liability? That's a really odd take from outer space. I have no idea where that comes from.

The reasoning would be that you have limited roster spots in San Diego and you'd rather give one of those spots to a different player. Groulx, Lupina and O'Reagan are the centers under contract at the moment so obviously they need a couple more. Ideally though the guy they sign will be a fringe NHL guy. Someone to be a leader down in the AHL or a call up if needed (a younger Sam Carrick). I don't see Elvenes as being a fringe NHL guy so a different player could make more sense.

I have no strong feeling either way - sign him or let him walk - personally. Both options are inconsequential when compared to the Ducks other roster questions.

Probably near double, so that he makes the salary of 4 years at least.
