would rather a blueger/pettersson combo at those picks than Dumoulin. I know it'd probably costs more but solves a lot for the Sabres. I know he's not right handed but solid defensive game I think he'd pair nicely with power short term and than maybe slide over to the left after a year.

Since he is another lefty if he can’t play the right side he doesn’t really help the Sabres. They already have a ton of lefties on the blue line, and I wouldn’t make a trade like this just to play a guy out of position. Not to mention he’s just another one year deal, and it’s a high price to pay for a guy who walks away in a year, unless he signs an extension as part of the trade.

He might be worth it. I don’t know that he’s the kind of player the Sabres are looking for. They want a guy who sort of fits into the core and can help lead this very young defense corps. The only way they will trade for that guy is if there’s a player they Target as a “have to have“ guy. I’m not sure anybody has ever described Petterson that way.

He's played for a while, good defensive numbers, playoff experience and wont cost a lot to add. Seems like the exact type of player theyd want. And I wouldnt dismiss the Ventura and Karmanos connection. I think both value him pretty highly. Obviously they'd ideally like a righty, but this is a decent consolation. Also really like Blueger if they can steal him somehow.

I think Pittsburgh really likes Blueger too, so I don’t think they would be willing to let him go. Although they gave away Jared McCann who is at least every bit as good. Of course McCann probably never puts up the numbers he did in Seattle on another team because he isn’t getting the kind of ice time and opportunity he is getting there.
