Evander Kane wants $7,000,000 per to remain in Edmonton and $8,000,000 per on the open market short term. He's not signing that cheaply.

Toronto passes, On the J. T. Miller trade. Doubt they give up both Knies and Niemela.

Isles aren't taking on Jake Muzzins full value for a 2nd round pick. So they pass.

Justin Holl isn't worth no 3rd rounder. Probably 4th or 5th round pick at the very most.

More I don't like NTC Muzzin's cap, so I trade him to a non playoff team....C'mon. A big overpay for Miller. Don't see much in for Ducks

I had not read that on Kane. Remove his off ice issues and his last contract looks very reasonable. He is definitely worth 8m a year. With his past I can't see a team offering more than 6m a year. I could be wrong though! 5.5-6m for 4-5 years is what I expect him to get. I think it would be fair for both parties. Time will tell what he gets!

Both sides say no to the Vancouver trade. Vancouver can get a better package moving Miller & Schenn separately (and without throwing in a 3rd) and I think the Leafs should be hanging on to more of these prospects - Knies and his ELC can be very valuable in 2023-24 & Niemela is coming off a very good season in Liiga - I think you hang onto him and hope he's ready to come over once TJ Brodie is ready to move on.

I honestly think the better move here is to throw a 2nd at Anaheim for Stolarz, keep your 1st & Abruzzese, and either dump Mrazek with another 2nd on Chicago, or eat the $1M buyout. You're sacrificing a lot to include Mrazek in any deal you're trying to make.

Jake Muzzin would probably be like, Plan Y or Z for the Isles at LD2. With his age and cap hit, I wouldn't want to give up a 2nd rounder for him. Mayyyyyyyybe you get a 4th/5th if the Isles strike out everywhere else and decide to take a gamble on the 33 year old and his health - if you can convince him to waive his NTC, that is.

Holl is an August trade. Just like how I said Muzzin is a last gasp plan for the Isles to upgrade LD2, Holl would be that type of plan for a team that wants to upgrade RD3 but strikes out on their targets. I see him being more likely flipped to a contender, and getting a 4th back. But if they're a strong contender, a late 3rd would be fine too.

Miller straight up, no retention is a 1st, Knies, Liljegren.

for your package, Kerfoot is a pure cap move and does not have any or much value because of your situation. Miller 50% and Schenn for Knies, Liljegren, 1st, 2nd, Kerfoot.
