Besides the trades. Just looking at this team. It is an insane improvement over the one the leafs had last year and that team was already nuts. But I think you need to ad to the kings and coyotes traded for them to go through

Like, it's just the fan-base trolling us Kings fans at this point right? And isn't that against the rules of the website?

Pretty sure it is, and they are reported, they just open new accounts. Look at how few posts most of them have.

I mean...at least he has a bit of term...They keep trying to shove 1 year of Holl and Kerfoot down our throats.

Too much for Gibson, weird fit and too much back for Muzzin. These poor west coast people are having such a tough day.

Curious to hear what sort of value you think Kerfoot and Holl have to Anaheim? Both signed for 1 year, and being traded to the Ducks who, if they're trading their starting goaltender, are clearly rebuilding.

That doesn't really fit the timeline...

I mean, I was being nice, I think the whole trade is just stupid. Those players don't help Anaheim at all and giving up two draft picks and two prospects for Gibson is a terrible idea.

Oh forsure, this was the first team I’ve built amid some of the rumours circulating in the market. Curious to get your thoughts on what the leafs would need to add because I definitely agree.

The thought process behind the Anaheim deal is that Kerfoot (50+ point player) and Holl (Serviceable RHD) would have value from a trade perspective near the deadline and could net them some future assets. Verbeek seems keen on getting value from expiring contracts so that was my thought process truthfully. Plus, the money in and out would have to work for both teams!

Oh like you’re some type of expert? I took a rough go at this based on some rumours circulating off of twitter. Hence the “possibilities” in the team name itself. Just wanted to hear some reasonable opinion from other fam bases on how far those deals off but you seem to offer no value to any threads you involve yourself in lol

I wouldn’t disagree. Was just putting some hypotheticals together based on some cap numbers and what some rumours on twitter are floating around. Curious to get your thoughts on what kind of return the kings would be open to in terms of a Muzzin package!

Just my thoughts, but wouldn't it make more sense for Toronto to actually dot the work here, instead of Anaheim gambling? To me, this is one of those "Here, these are the two guys that I don't know how to fit, so good luck!" type scenarios.

Oh 1000%. In that hypothetical trade package, the leafs could definitely return assets for both Kerfoot and Holl separately and then include those assets within a deal like this OR Anaheim could also flip them in the offseason because there is some interest among other teams. Did this on my lunch break so it doesn’t include all possibilities aha

Lol this was just put together based on speculation. I’m a long time follower of the site and usually don’t post because I’m too lazy to log in ahahah. Took a stab based on what I heard from twitter as a thought-starter. Don’t understand the hostility but do what you gotta do my man!

It wouldn't work for us from a fundamental point of view.

Blake in 2018 sold off the Kings best assets to (1) get younger (2) get faster (3) stop being bogged down with large contracts paying players into their mid to late 30s.

Muzzin was moved and the Kings found success early in defensive players like Roy, Walker, and Andersson. They then got to the next step with Bjornfot and Durzi, these have been great but the Kings now lack a pivotal piece a 2LD. Although Muzzin could work in this role, he would be similar to how Edler was for the Kings last season. An older player who is a stop-gap until your defensemen get better. The one issue being, Muzzin is signed for another year and at a much larger cap hit. As long as the Kings are still in on Chychrun, there is zero chance of a Muzzin trade as both could not exist on the Kings lineup.

So the following issues would need to be resolved:

- Muzzin would need to waive to LA, believing he has a better chance at winning a cup in the next two years with LA than the Leafs
- The Kings would need to lose out on Chychrun, and cheaper UFA options like Edler, Maata, etc.
- Blake has not yet traded for a player over the age of 30, he would need to be ok with getting the team older which goes against everything he has done to date
- The Kings would need to assess Muzzin medically to ensure his concussions and injuries will not have him missing substantial time like last season.
- As the Kings hold most of the negotiating power, they would not be giving up much a 4th rounder perhaps more with retention.
- The Kings would need to be ok with the fact that Muzzin's best years are behind him, he has statistically declined every year he has been with the Leafs

I know this is a tough pill to swallow, but forcing a trade with the Kings doesn't work in so many ways for them. So they have no incentive to make it work unless Toronto wanted to entice them with Sandin or someone similar.

Thanks for the context, man! This was a nice layout and a piece of insight in terms of where Blake could take the kings. Haven’t had a chance to brush up on the kings all too often recently, so I appreciate the deep dive! Cheers!
