Eh I don't hate it besides the fact that the two of them would cost more than jesse so it ruins the point of the trade. Honestly I think edmonton would try for a one for one trade with one of sandin or Liljegren instead.

What we want as a return and what this management will settle for are two very exclusive things. I think OP is close to what the Oilers will actually get in a trade: the Holland regime famously over-values PDO and raw counting stats with little regard to a player's fancies. If they move Puljujarvi, it's going to be for a net loss.

Sandin or Liljegren is more than Jesse. Considering how well they've played.

    Kase would be 2-2.5 million
    Engvall is 1.5-2 milion.

I seen a lot of ACGMs banking on the fact Keith is on LTIR next year but I doubt it.

I agree but even still ik y'all are getting the short end of the stick especially if Jesse breaks out like a lot of us can see.

If y'all are able to move Keith and Kassian and more y'all are easily able to keep him but I don't think the management group is as savvy to get out of it.

and combined that would be 4 million which is more of what jesse will most likely get which is around 3 million though he is worth more he will probably get less than that

I'm saying the return is going to cost more than what OP has JP signed for, which defeats the purpose of trading him off in the first place.

Nashville doesn't make that trade, Askarov & Ingram aren't ready to start yet, Saros probably gets moved in 1-2 years instead of this offseason

Edmonton is the team with no leverage here. Yes Jesse is elite analytically and awaiting to breakout but y'all don't have the $$$ to sign him. Furthermore he's arbitration eligible.

He'll get more from an arbitrator. If he doesn't he's doing Ken Holland a massive favour

Yea but imo it makes more sense to retool for 1-2 years and come back better. Nashville window has closed. They're stuck in the NHLs no man land. No good enough to win a cup. and not good enough to get a top 10 pick

If NSH trades Saros, that would signal they intend to tank hard for the next 2-3 seasons. Nylander would be of no value to them, in that scenario. Knies, Niemelä, and high draft picks would be the pieces from TOR of the most interest to NSH.

Everyone has Keith on LTIR because we're praying he retires for the cap relief. He's not actually injured that anyone knows about.

The odds of Knies and Niemela becoming what Nylander is as a player a long shot. Knies had potential to be a top 6F but not an elite winger like Willy. Niemela is min 3 years away and is gonna be a top 4 dman but that aint near Saros rn

Pulju is a prime candidate for an offer sheet IMO. Because his counting stats aren't that great, a team could offer up a 4.2 AAV and only have to give EDM a 2nd in compensation. He still has enough upside that some team will think it's worth it, similar to CAR with KK, except EDM has less cap space to play with than MTL did when they had to make their decision to match.

Also you gotta think Kane is on their priority list. He did play elite on McDavid wing but the might not due to him being a locker room cancer

From what I've read EDM wants Kane back. And he won't come cheap after this playoff run. Guys like Pulju and/or Yamo might get squeezed out.

FYI I'm not opposed to trading JP, but this really isnt the return we're looking for.

if the return was a cost-controlled asset and a pick or prospect, different story.. but Engvall and Kase would more than likely add up to more than the 4M JP is stated to sign for here.

If Nashville were to trade Saros in an effort to tank for a season or two while we awaited Askarov to come and save us, this trade still wouldn’t make sense for Nashville. In two seasons, nylander would be 28 and getting a brand new even more expensive contract while the rest of Nashville’s core was aging out. Nashville would be looking for younger players than nylander as a return

Yeah, I don't see NSH ever intentionally tanking while Poile is still GM. I was just saying in the unlikely hypothetical that Saros gets traded before Askarov establishes himself, tanking is the only logical path for them.

I was just using them as examples of the best pieces TOR has to offer NSH in this scenario. Robertson doesn't fit the mold of the direction NSH is heading. Amirov is a non-starter, with his health issues. The Preds have a lot of LD depth, so Sandin wouldn't be a high interest player to them. I don't see TOR being able to outbid some of the other teams that would have interest in Saros, if NSH was going to blow it up (which isn't realistically going to happen anyway).

Ok but do y’all have the assets or does the front office have the savvy to make those move and adjust. I don’t believe so.

    Kase is 2-2-5million
    Engvall 1.5-2million

That’s pretty much JP raise right there. Even if you don’t want to do the trade we can easily trade our 1st to Seattle to get Seattles 2022 2nd and out 2nd next year. Now we can offersheet JP.

Look, I understand you really really really are fixated on JP, so I'll let you be.
Don't forget though, that there are 30 other teams besides yours and mine.
If we use JP as a sweetener for another deal I'd rather do that if the fit works because again, this here ain't it.

PS. funny how you think Holland doesn't have the 'savvy' to make smart moves, when we're already miles ahead of you guys.
I'm sure he, as an actual professional GM, will do just fine.
