He’s a 34 year old one year away from UFA and you want a top 10 pick for him. Nobody would pay that price for Sidney Crosby or Alexander Ovechkin right now, why should they do that for Kane?

If you don’t think Crosby gets that return you are crazy. The guy is still playing at an extremely high level and has 3 years left on a bargain deal

I’m curious which team choosing in the top 10 this year could see Sidney Crosby as the piece they are missing to win the Stanley Cup. Assuming Pittsburgh would listen to the offer, which they wouldn’t of course for legacy purposes if nothing else.

Realistically for Kane at least, his numbers aren’t going to improve with a new team. He scored 92 points this past season, as a 35 year old next year could he do it again? Maybe. More than likely the numbers start to dip. I know you think he’s going to play his heart out for his hometown. Maybe he’s always secretly wanted to be a Buffalo Sabre, but I’m not so sure anymore. That said it’s not like he isn’t playing his absolute best for Chicago. But coming home to Buffalo isn’t going to unlock some new untapped level of capability for him entering his mid-30s. Assuming Buffalo were interested in trading for him I couldn’t imagine they would pull the trigger on trade like this or the one you’re asking for without him signing some kind of extension so he doesn’t walk away in one year. Without that there would be no trade anyway.
