Canucks probably ask for Liljegren or maybe Niemela instead of Sandin. It’s a good offer though

Fair enough. Lily alone is likely same value as Miller no chance leafs move him. Niemela could easily replace sandin in that and I think we'd still do it.

lol exactly like the legendary Jeremy Bracco. Some forget he did actually have value for a while though.

More like a 3rd rd pick or an Anderson/Abramov type.

Dont understand why some people think a $1 million buyout per year is worth a 1st for the receiving team. 2nd or 3rd rounder equivalent. If yotes arent willing to take that value then I assure you someone will. Most fans here just hate the leafs and exaggerate how bad a contract it is to move. GMs are in the business of making their teams better, not hating on the leafs. If they can get decent value to then go buy him out - they take it.

Liljgren the same value as Miller? Noooooo.....

That said, Vancouver would happily accept your proposal, but they wouldn't allow the 2022 1st rounder to be top 10 protected. wink

Dubie did move Thick Nick Ritchie when no one said he could so I won't count him out.

We re-sign him hopefully. Nice addition to the core, look at the long term outlook here, not terribly difficult to re-sign him if you shuffle some things around. Don't forget Muzzin is moveable next off-season. thats 5.625 Million right there... you hopefully have Knies and Robertson backfilling forward depth by then too

An even worse idea "We sign him hopefully". The roster isn't really cap compliant this year and then hoping to resign Miller. Muzzin moveable next season....I'm doubting that and his 5.6m

Struggling to see how thats a bad idea.... exactly the type of player tavares needs to succeed. yes, Muzzin will be moveable he only has a 10 team no-trade list and is only owed $2M in actual salary.

Those types of contracts are traded every single offseason lol (with sweeteners depending on his play this year)

All Muzzin has to do is put on teams that have cap to to no trade list. There are so many teams near the cap that just can't or want a 5.6m Muzzin. Now you've really overpaid for Miller even more....all to acquire him, Muzzin sweeteners and overpaying a 31 year UFA.

I think you're overthinkign this. Whether you like it or not Muzzin will be moveable for a price (especially if he plays well this year).

Not gonna spend much more time on this but in a vaccum yes I agree a 31 yr old UFA is typically a bad investment. The elite talents in the league are still a good investment at that age. Miller should be a good investment for the majority of the contract.

On the macro scale, this core will likely be gone by the time that contract starts to be an albatross. That's the unfortunate reality of the cap world. Load up for your window then spend a year or so getting rid of your bad contracts and build it back up again.
