Offer sheets coming for Sandin and Liljegren since you priced them so low no compensation would be due.

Leafs goaltending is not an issue. Rather just go Campbell and Kaljgren at a total of about 5.5m. What the Leafs need is cap space, and trading Nylander for futures is almost imperative. Mrzarek can't be wished away
RFA Engvall and Kase can have spot on the team. Duszak or really any Marlies are not NHL capable right now. A 7th NHL Dman....maybe even Holl. but I certainly wouldn't mind Lybushin being resigned

Lol, if a leafs goalie put up his numbers with his contract the past 4 seasons there'd be one pay two firsts to move him to Phoenix every day here

Admitting you need cap space but refusing to trade any expensive players away is not the best strategy.

Oh, I think it's the only strategy. Reilly has 2.5m raise, looks like 1m buyout for Mrzarek, and a starting goalie is going to cost more than Campbell's current 1.6m

Not Matthews, or Marner or NTC Reilly, Brodie or Muzzin. So realistically the only high cap player the Leafs can trade is 7m X 2 years Nylander. There are many teams in the same cap situation and few teams that can take on full 7m contract without sending cap back to the Leafs. As a result his cap his actual "trade" value is very low. I've been criticized by Leaf fans for suggesting trading Nylander and even worse suggesting a low return.
7m Nylander and 1 m goalie, and 1 Dman cost cap is 9m. I suggest the Leafs would be infinitely better signing Campbell for 5m, a 2m Dman and 2m forward...cap hit 9m. If there trade return for Nylander is just 2nd and 3rd rounder, so be it.

Trading Gibson for Nylander solves one problem in the intermediate term and just creates an equal problem longer term. No, thanks.

Agreed, but if Dubas does this and Nylander keeps scoring at a point per game, he'll get crucified.

I'm having quite a discussion with Jared of London about Nylander being traded.....It's under the post "Anderson" which was posted recently. Jared think Nylander just can't be traded, and I think the Leafs just can't afford his cap.

Dubas getting crucified? Rather be crucified in July when teams are adjusting their roster, rather in October when the Leafs # 1 is Mrzarek goalie
