Description
THIS IS A PLAYOFF TEAM in 22-23.
Our top 9 is STACKED and I don't feel our 4th line will have trouble either.
And we're fine for cap too. We even have $5.7M for deadline rentals blue line depth .
Harmonic/DelZotto/Watson/Holden all come off the cap at the end of 22-23 giving us another $8M there. That gives us almost $15M to ink Stü, Pinto and Zub.
At the end of 23-24 Giroux, Zaitsev, and Bobby Ryan come off the books to free up $13.5M and we'll likely have some ELCs pushing their way into the line up. (our '22 1st, JBD, Kleven, Boucher, Sogaard, Ostapchuk, Crookshank, Lodin +++. This team could legit for a lot of years!!

Ahh yes because a 28 year old rental who as averaged 20 goals/ 50 points per 82games over the last 3 seasons is very close in Value to a 25 year old RFA averaged 27 goals/63 points per 82 games over the last three seasons.

Good thing u added a 2nd to even it out

HAHA. He's 28 years old.
I'm sure some OTT fans will be against this but I would be willing to add Jarventie to the deal.
And honestly, if you decided not to extend Connor Brown, it's a safe bet you'd get a 1st for him at the deadline.
Great in the room, an absolute beast on the PK and coaches know they can trust him in ALL situations.

Once again, it doesn’t fill any needs. We’d essentially be trading a winger for a winger. Canucks need RHD, picks and prospects.

I'm going to assume you're not trolling or an Ottawa hater and answer you honestly. With this team adding Giroux, Boeser, Pinto, Joseph, Greig and Sanderson it's not about which ONE those teams we'd dethrone. We'd be right in the mix!

You keep saying Connor Brown doesn't fill a need but your team is DEAD LAST on the PK. I'd call that a need worth addressing. And again, Brown nets a 1st at the deadline. So you're getting a great guy to teach the kids how to PK until you move him for a 1st. Plus you're getting a 2nd and Jarventie.

But if you'd rather do the 2023 1st (top 5 protected) and Bernard-Docker. I'm totally open to that. I'd be stoked to keep Connor Brown and let Ridly Greig start the year in Belleville.

We are trading our 25 year old best pure goal scorer for a guy to go on the PK, I don’t think our management deserves a job. Our PK is terrible yes but mostly because of time during Green. Since Boudreau took over, our Pk has been just fine. Personell is not a problem, Green just sucked as a coach

It was already widely reported that Vancouver wants a young RHD for Brock Boeser. Hence the Marino for Boeser rumors. Sorry but your offer doesn't cut it.

Pinto 8 career NHL points
Greig 0 career NHL games (never played an AHL game either)
Sanderson 0 career NHL games (never played an AHL game either)
Joseph is a bottom 6F

You are far too high on your prospects and are expecting too much from their first season/games in the NHL

From the current 8 playoff teams - like you said, TBL/FLA/TML are unlikely to fall apart next season; as are the Hurricanes & NYR from the Metro. I'd say that Boston/Pittsburgh/Washington are all getting old enough that they could have a rough season (much like the Islanders did this year) and just fall off. I do think the Isles make a run back up the standings next season (call me a homer whatever) but Washington's iffy enough in goal, and Pittsburgh & Boston have major pieces hitting UFA this summer (Bergeron/Malkin/Letang), so I could see one of those three getting leapfrogged. And it's also the hater in me, but a big part of the Rangers' run this season is Shesterkin playing out of his mind and Chris Kreider shooting 20+% and if they regress back to their previous career norms I could see the Rangers falling back into the wild card bubble mix.

Canucks PK has been much better under Boudreau while finding great PKers in Pettersson and Hughes. The issue on the PK and everything else is on the back end. Canucks would look for a young top 4 RHD in return for Boeser which is why Boeser for Marino trades keep popping up. I'd imagine the Canucks would be looking for JBD and then another forward prospect/pick

IMO, you're reall .ly overpaid Boesner at 7,75 X 6. That makes him a top 10 RWer in the league, and he's certainly not that. Keep Brown, your pick and your cap...maybe spend it 23/24

I think that proposal makes a lot more sense for the Canucks. JBD gives us a good young RHD prospect that we desperately need, and the 1st is always a nice piece to have

This is ridiculously short sighted. Love how you brought up NHL points to back up Pinto/Sanderson/Greig and then promptly ignore NHL points on Joseph like he’s not over a point per game since joining the Sens. 12 points in 11 games doesn’t scream bottom 6 but go off.

Sanderson is arguably the best prospect outside the NHL and no reason to expect he can’t have an immediate impact like Drysdale, Seider or Power.

Greig had the 2nd best WHL ppg and also scored the nicest goal of any Ottawa Senator against the Jets this year before he was returned to Junior. There’s a reason he was right behind Rossi on Button’s drafted prospect rankings. He’s a player.

Pinto has 8 career point but you left out how many games he’s played. Almost 0.5 ppg fresh out of college where he was a finalist for the Hobey Baker, he’s only going to get better and if he ‘only’ scores 40 points while being an elite faceoff man and playing a 200 foot game that’s still huge. Pencilling him in at 3C is more fair.
