Nobody is going to be paying to take on Trouba, especially if it is at the full cap hit. Unless the Rags are going to pay to move him, he won’t be able to be moved.

I think Trouba would be a great fit in Detroit. NYR would probably have to retain a bit. It would allow Detroit to move Hronek. Detroit accepts regardless.

It is still 8mil in cap space teams could use to put toward better players, like Forsberg, Fiala, Laine, Gaudreau, just to name a couple of faces. I mean, the Rags can’t exactly afford to retain on him for 4 years, and how many teams would he waive for just to retain half his salary. I highly doubt Trouba would waive his NMC to leave a contender, to go to a building/ non playoff team. Plus, the only way I see the Rags keeping both Kakko and Laf, provided neither are offer sheeted, is if Trouba is moved. That being said, both Kakko and Laf are prime offer sheet candidates.
